POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Originally built in 1922 and designed by renowned Richmond architect Duncan Lee, this Colonial Revival home was carefully restored and reimagined for the way its owners live today.

Original archways, detailed molding, rich period-inspired color, and timeless finishes were thoughtfully preserved alongside updates designed for cooking, gathering, and everyday living.

Today, as part of the @museumdistrictrva Mother’s Day Home & Garden Tour, we’re grateful for the opportunity to share a closer look at this special home and the story behind it.

For homeowners who love the character of an older home but need it to serve a new season of life, the goal is never to erase the past. It’s to help the home become everything it was always meant to be.

This project came to life through the work of a talented team, including @steph.scott.design, and the many craftspeople, designers, and partners who helped thoughtfully restore and reimagine the home.

Happy Mother’s Day from Lane Homes & Remodeling.

The goal was a space that feels intentional from every angle.

The sculptural coral pendant by Hubbardton Forge brings a sense of quiet drama to the island, while its exposed low-voltage wiring keeps the look clean and refined. With finishing touches underway, this kitchen is nearing completion. Anchoring the room is a La Cornue Château in Royal Blue, handcrafted in France as a true centerpiece and designed to be cherished for generations.
Thoughtful details. Timeless craftsmanship.

This is what it looks like when vision starts becoming reality.

As time passes, our homes don’t always keep up with our needs. Too often, functionality comes at the cost of beauty, leaving spaces feeling clinical or institutional.

For this project, our design consultant worked closely with the homeowners to create a space that supports aging in place without sacrificing warmth and style. Every detail was chosen to make daily life easier, while still reflecting the character and charm of their home.

At Lane Homes, we believe your house should adapt to you, not the other way around. If you’re wondering how to make your home both beautiful and practical for the years ahead, we’d love to help you explore the possibilities.

This Bon Air couple loved their home and their neighbors too much to leave. So we helped them stay by designing a seamless main suite addition that supports comfort, ease, and longevity.

The new space includes a curbless shower, an accessible vanity, and a cozy reading nook. We also enclosed their screened-in porch to create a sunroom, adding year-round light and warmth.

Now, the house flows beautifully and is ready to support them in every season of life.

Love the way this roof design floods the kitchen with sunlight. Aside from being an effective and sustainable way to illuminate a space, natural lighting also has benefits when it comes to our productivity, health, and well-being 🌞
