POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

This pride month, I remember the beauty of “Radical Love: Where Spirit Transcends Law”, an immersive exhibition I had the honour of curating with @obodo_nigeria assisted by @ifinitechi last December in Lagos. This exhibit explored the reclamation of queer African existence beyond criminalisation, opening portals of resistance, rememory, and liberated futures.

This exhibit was curated into 3 rooms, an immersive experience with guidance from Ethiopian angelic sigils blessing the space:

Room 1, Beyond Binaries, exploring queerness as multidimensional and ungovernable. Through layered art forms, shared rituals, mirrors, scent, and a poetic soundscape by @ifinitechi the dual room returned us to ancestral, sensory connectivity with the earth, waters, sky, and our bodies - harnessing elemental fluidity that resists categorisation. This world was brought alive through the scent work & poetry of @stephaarnie__ and the nature-inspired sensual pieces of @jaythefriendlygiant

Room 2, Silenced Archives, honoured queer resistance protected beneath the shadow of state imposed shame, displacement, and erasure. Visitors were invited to read, respond to prompts, discover hidden scriptural love letters and contribute to a shared archive. Digital artist @mirrorsandspirit expanded this space through evocative imagery of fatigue, yearning and the search for home.

Room 3, Angelic Punk, opened up as an altar of queer liberation. In this sanctuary space, soundscapes of healing frequencies by @kudzan4i reclaimed spirituality and the heart of God as inclusive, tender & fiercely liberating. Here, queerness was explored as an expansive inner spirit of radical love, with raw artistry and divine feminine expression in art & the “Angelic punk poetics” book by @ejetheartist and @flowwiththeday

such blessed memories of abundant love, this pride month, may we continue to commune in curated artistic sanctuaries of shared Spirit 🪽❤️‍🔥🕯️

Here they are! The artists showing at Radical Love: Where Spirit Transcends Law Exhibition.

Register and join us for the official opening on Nov 22nd via bit.ly/RLthehub

Across sound, texture, and light, their work confronts repression, law, censorship, silence, erasure while opening portals into resistance, memory, and radical futures beyond the state’s imagination. Their art will take on the posture of messengers of spiritual expansiveness who refuse binaries, reclaim faith, and imagine worlds where freedom is not granted by law but lived as spirit.

Radical Love is curated by Anayimi for the Human Rights Hub.

Register to attend! bit.ly/RLthehub (link in bio)
