When I started Lucky Penny, my twins were six months old. Life was already full and my brain was mush, but I had this idea I couldn’t let go of: a little shop where I could share the things I loved and bring people joy.

Vintage pieces with a story. Things made by someone’s hands. Something unexpected that makes you smile. A space where you could wander, feel welcome, and find something that felt like you. A place of my own to call home.

But it’s easy to lose the plot when you’re running a small business. The bills, the workload, the endless list of things that need your attention. You can spend so much time trying to keep everything going that you lose touch with what made you start.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about that beginning. What I hoped this shop would feel like, both for me and for the people walking through the door.

I opened Lucky Penny because creating and finding beautiful, interesting things makes me happy, and I wanted to share that feeling. I wanted to support other creative people and bring a little more joy into someone’s day.

That’s still the reason. And I’m reminding myself that getting off track doesn’t mean you’ve lost what you set out to do. Even when things get difficult, you can pause, reel it back in, and return to what matters. You can learn as you go and keep your mission moving.

For me, that means coming back to the heart of Lucky Penny: bringing people joy.

So remember when you need a little joy and want to bring some joy into our life I hope you’ll keep shopping with us, stopping in to see what’s new, and sharing the shop with someone you love. The juggle isn’t always easy. Some days, it feels like someone—or something—is getting a little less of me than they deserve.

But not a day goes by that I’m not deeply grateful for what it has given me in return. This little shop, along with an incredibly supportive partner, has allowed me to build something meaningful while still being present for the everyday moments of Hazel and Ruby growing up.

And that wouldn’t be possible without this community. Every purchase, visit, share, kind word and recommendation helps keep this dream alive—and gives me the incredible gift of being present with my growing girls.

Thank you for supporting this little shop, the makers and artists who fill it, and the family behind it. I get to chase a dream without missing their childhood, and I’ll never stop being grateful for that.

We cleaned, we painted, we’re moving along…

This past week has been a lot, but the new space is coming together and it feels really good.

Huge thank you to everyone who offered to help or showed up; it honestly made this whole process possible and i’m really grateful.
