We’ve heard and read a lot of legal opinions about the current state of our freedoms over the last 24hours… some of them from actual lawyers!

These are the first two attorneys that we’ve seen state clearly that they are interpreting the situation to be that if you are in certain states (and presumably a Member of one of the involved Organizations), you are cleared to manufacture your own suppressor for personal use without paperwork.

They point out that the injunction covers 26 U.S.C. § 5822, which covers the manufacturing of NFA Items…

With the permanent injunction in Jensen v. ATF now effective, a litany of questions have arisen regarding the treatment of both the people and arms affected by the injunction.

SAF and its partners have just sent a letter seeking additional clarification and guidance from the DOJ as to how the Jensen injunction will be implemented.

SAF shares the communty’s enthusiasm and eagerness in exercising the rights now vindicated by the Jensen win, and we are hopeful that additional guidance will provide the clarity necessary for the law-abiding Americans protected by this injunction to exercise those rights without unintended legal consequence.

Lots of information flying around from a lot of involved parties in the NFA Ruling… and not all of it is clear or completely aligned.

Several organizations are, understandably, suggesting you need to join _their_ org to be covered.

Involved companies are, understandably, sharing the information that some of their products/transactions are specifically covered.

I don’t think we will know what freedoms are really restored, where, and to whom, until the DOJ/ATF actually release their regulatory & enforcement plans… and those will still be subject to change from within or from the courts.

The specific verbiage in several states in regard to compliance with Federal Law being an exemption to their restrictions on different items varies and that makes it unclear how the ruling will affect their residents.

THIS is why several members of Congress sent a letter to the DOJ suggesting that they immediately announce their intention to treat the injunction of NFA Regulations as universal and nationwide…. But, that hasn’t happened yet.

Standing by to regain those lost rights.

The very first 12 gauge shotgun I ever fired, and the one I shot the most until adulthood, was a sawn off Ithaca Model 37. It was my Father’s “raid gun”. It was a different era… and this was not a fancy NFA weapon purchased by the city he worked for and issued to him. It was an honest hunting shotgun that at some point had a hack saw taken to it… at both ends.

Fast forward to 1984. Men of a certain age and upbringing will remember that when things really started getting serious C. Thomas Howell got out a hack saw and chopped off the last 15 or so inches of his pump shotgun barrel. I didn’t have a shotgun to cut down, or I might have tried as a 12 year old… 🤣… but, as noted above, we already had one of those in the family collection anyway. I DID cut down a Daisy pump BB Gun… that’s when I learned about “barrel liners” 🤷🏻‍♂️.

Jump ahead the better part of a decade and we were entering Dark Times as gun owners. One of the clearest indicators that we were truly being attacked was the siege at Ruby Ridge… our Government Killing citizens over a few inches of shotgun barrel being cut off.
Years later, standing in a parking lot with a bunch of good people, Randy Weaver would tell us that if someone keeps asking you to do something that is both easy for them to do themselves AND a felony, that person was probably working for the Federal Government. Good tip.

Now, I am sitting here in my shop within hours of that whole scheme changing… prepared to do something I’ve wanted to do for 42 Years. Some very knowledgeable and in-the-know people have told me it’s already a done deal… but, I’m waiting until Midnight to celebrate… and maybe waiting to see if Silencershop’s first attempt at a GCA only transfer of a suppressor goes through in the AM to really believe it.

I’ve had an FFL/SOT and the opportunity to legally make an SBS for a long time, BTW… but I haven’t been compelled to put saw to barrel because I don’t really have any professional use for an old cut down 12 Gauge. This one is personal… for the vibes… for the novelty… and to celebrate American Gun Owners regaining a right that should never have been taken away… after almost 100 years! I hope. 🤞🏼

Firearm misinformation in the media is widespread.

So, NJC is changing that.

The summer class visited the shooting range to learn about firearms to be better equipped covering the second amendment. Better reporting starts with a better understanding.

NJC is the only way to do it.

Lots of highway time today… catching up on the SCOTUS arguments in this case in regard to the “choose your freedom” problem we have in our country right now.

Thankfully, SCOTUS is really pushing back on the DOJ’s attempt to rationalize their antiquated position on marijuana use and the current ridiculousness of “oxy prescriptions are okay, but marijuana prescriptions aren’t legit”. 🙄
