I’ve wanted to build a sauna for so many years, drawing different versions, walking around my land figuring out where to put it, trying out every one I could find wherever I went on the globe. Finally this summer with the help of @calezima and @noahpeterson__ I finally built one. Learned a lot, was the most complex thing ive really built so far, knowing that if all went well I’d be spending the next 20 years cooking myself in this thing, i wanted to make sure I did it the best I could. It’s funny because building it came at a pretty dark time for me so it was really therapeutic even before it was finished. There’s a lil changing room and then it’s about 9x7 inside the sauna with the main bench being double wide so I can lay down fully comfortable and stretch a little. Outside there is a shower and cold plunge that I also piped hot water to incase I wanted to take a forest bath 🛀🏼 The stove is from @huumsauna and is incredible, I use it everyday so I wanted it to be electric and this version actually has an app that I can turn it on from wherever. So maybe I wake up early, flip it on from bed, or if I’m at the beach and get done surfing I’ll turn it on so it’s hot when I get home.. such a fucking dream. Can’t thank Cale and Noah enough. Also @samueljayblock for building the amazing door and help from @shoeburt @stephenwfox @crispairickson @tmojk @tamauflage and all the homies who sent me cash towards it for my last birthday! I’ll build the plaque next spring. 😘

First day hitting jumps since January 8th last winter. I badly herniated 2 discs and bulged 2 discs landing flat on a cliff. anyone who has dealt with this shit knows how crazy debilitating these injuries are. After seeing a couple specialists who recommended surgery I decided it didn’t feel right and went the natural healing route. That’s sounds pretty vague but I basically focused on long term health goals instead of instant relief. Diet, rest, proper hydration, sauna/cold plunge, slow progression of movement and strength training, Limited sugar (my nightmare) hanging from a pull-up bar/inversion table, grounding and a ton of body work from specialists. I was at Esalen and met an 87 yr old woman while we were both naked in the hot springs who told me to connect my mind and body I need to wake up and visualize my healing process, so that next morning I started this funny deal where I would imagine an army of ants leaving my heart and heading to my spinal column where they would spend the day breaking down the herniation with pick axes and pulling my vertebrae apart to allow room for some of the disc to return to where it belongs… 🐜 🪓 been a wild year, thank you so much to anyone who gave me advice or showed up for me, means the world ❤️ hitting these tiny jumps without any pain felt so incredible… like everything in life, perspective is 🔑
