Also proof that you don’t need to spend every waking minute on social media if you plan properly. I work full time, I have to have dedicated hours which work for me at weekends, so I don’t have to worry about making sure the work is done all week.

One year since I launched Seventeen Social! 🎂

At the time I hoped it would become a business where I could use everything I’d learnt from over a decade in corporate social media and my own channels as a local creator to help businesses make better decisions.

When I look at the work I’ve done since then I’d say I got there. I’ve had the chance to work with businesses across all kinds of industries for a real mix of projects. One off strategy sessions, some longer term repeat work projects, some tenders applications, content creation sessions, and some who’ve come back time and time again as their businesses have grown and changed and just want an hour to check in every so often.

I’ve also realised why Seventeen Social works for me too. It was never to scale or turn into a full time business. I still have my full time role leading social media strategy for a global travel tech company. Every day I’m working on corporate strategy, governance, reporting and campaigns at scale, and every client project gives me another perspective to bring back the other way.

Running my own instagram @stephfoxblogs is still a passion project that continues to teach me things no presentation, course or textbook ever could. It introduces me to brilliant business owners across the North East, gives me the chance to see social media from the creator side too, and constantly reminds me what it’s actually like to build something yourself, even if I do think the entire industry has gone a bit mad. It also got me an invite to Downing Street which was 🤯

All of those things are what has shaped @seventeensocial17 into exactly what I wanted it to be.

If you’ve noticed it’s been a little quieter on that page it’s simply because Ive been continuously fully booked - very grateful for that. And because I desp need new pics, I loved the original shoots but those shots did prompt me to lose a few stone…

I do plan to share more again soon

Thank you to every client who’s trusted me over the last year, every business owner and individuals who have recommended me, and everyone who’s been following along since day one.

4 years of Nooks 🫶🏼

4 juicy black n white years since I pressed post on a daft, overly-sarcastic, intoxicatingly Northern insta upload that meant nothing to anyone and something to me. 🫀

Fast forward and I’ve spent the last 1,460 days doing things I’d have never done, eating food I’d have never tried, staying places on my doorstep I didn’t know existed, feeling like I ‘belong’ in rooms I’ve earned the key to unlock, ate my bodyweight in shakshuka, sank enough ice vanil lattes to take out all the cows on the Town Moor, got a Northern voice behind Number 10… and god, had a grand old bloody time. 🥹

But mainly and most mint-ly, I’ve met some very very lush humans, who not only make Nooks what it is, but me who I am (blerghhhhh). 🫶🏼

I’m the 10% of the iceberg you can see and go “wewwww have ya seen that iceberg!!”…

… they’re the 90% under the water keeping me afloat on the Tyne.

Long live canny Northerners.

I’ve sat freezing my fingers off in the stands more times than I can count, but getting to walk out to a Sam Fender tune, touch the grass of my home stadium, see the @worflags display in full glory, and feel the vibration of 50,000 Geordies singing the Champions League anthem like a Sunday prayer… I fear the full body goosies are incurable.
