This is Jayleah and her verse is:
Matthew 11:28-30

Now, I love a good story so here goes:
@jeff_dawsey being Jeff went to her school and was promoting student ministry which got her in the door. Then, her conversations with Steph and small group led her to recognize that Jesus can take away her stress of living and her stressed relationships with others. So she decided she wanted to trust Jesus with the parts in life she cannot control. Which, if you didn’t know, Jesus can take it, and he happily does.
So…
We had no idea that she wanted to get baptized until her mom showed up and said, “when is she getting baptized?” So of course we were like lol what?! Then we found out that she talked to her leader @stephisgrand about it, and then talked with her mom and decided to get baptized Sunday! So last minute we got her a shirt and dunked her!

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30 NIV

“Jesus be the name that gets all the glory”

And yes, I got her mom’s permission to write her story and post it on my socials… swipe to the end!🫡

God can surprise you… the first time I met Nari, she hated me and we had maddddd beef 🐮🐮🐮 because apparently, “I was doing too much”, lol.

So I remember talking to Jeff and God and being like, this isn’t working… she hates me, and we butt heads a lot… and more specifically to God that I just dont see her coming to know Him. Like maybe later in life but like there’s just too many issues.

And like how most of my answered prayers go with God it’s a “wait and see what I can do”. So I waited, and got many nudges from God to talk to her which were very hard because Nari would be very short with me. And I would tell God , “see!” But then one day we found common ground on a nudge and our relationship changed after that!

So 2 years later, Nari is in the baptismal pool and I’m baptizing her, something I didn’t think I was going to be doing 2 years ago, but God saw and he knew and he told me to “wait and see”. This is another testament of how God just works even through what I may think is impossible.

Nari, welcome Home!

Look at God! Downtown student ministry has grown throughout the years and being able to have a Christmas party this large is a sign of God’s Faithfulness. My prayers and the prayers of Jeff and others! It’s amazing to see what God has done and what He will continue to do with HIS ministry downtown!

Merry CHRISTmas ❤️❤️❤️
