Spontaneous adventures to new places on Vancouver Island with your friends can still be a lot of fun!

As a planner by nature, I do find I like to plan, plan, plan. Typically have things all figured out and have or need the answers. I have been this way my whole life. In recent years, I’ve learned the value of finding more balance, saying yes to more of the unknown even when it can feel daunting or scary. So in this chapter, I’m saying yes to more of things that bring joy, taking time to recharge as needed, finding balance and working on more spontaneity as it fits.

If you’ve done something spontaneous lately, what was it? How did it make you feel?

Mt Baker area is one of my favourite places to hike and with good reason!

I recently made a trip back to this wonderful place, hiked up to Ptarmigan Ridge with a few friends. Being so close to Baker was beyond cool and felt surreal. It’s definitely
a long one and not easy. Go prepared and do the research for it if you ever wanted the chance to experience it for yourself. It’s definitely worth it!

Where’s somewhere you dream of going?

Side quests when travelling or adventuring can be so much fun!

During my recent trip to Peru we had a couple interesting side quests that included natural hot springs in the mountains and visiting famous Maras salt mines where there are more than 3000 of them! Fun fact, they are in between Andes mountains but fed by a subterranean ocean source! How cool is that!

When you’ve travelled or adventured, have you gone to any interesting side quests? Where’d you go?

This little gem called Eagle Bluffs at Cypress Mountain is truly a winner for a sunset hike idea. Be sure to go prepared including a headlamp and enjoy the views!

Who would you bring here to watch this view with you?

Mt Baker, you are something special. Every time I come back here I feel your energy. ✨️🤍

I've done this hike 3 times & have always decided to stop at the turquoise tarns just before the turn off to the ridge. This time we went all the way to The Portals. You feel like you can reach out and touch her. 🌀

I had the opportunity to summit Baker this weekend but had prior commitments. Its on my bucketlist and I'll make it happen!

Visiting an alpaca and llama sanctuary along with seeing hundreds of them in the wild in Peru definitely was one highlight of this recent magical trip!

If you had a choice of an alpaca or llama as a pet, which are you choosing and what are you naming them?

Visiting Peru and Cusco sure had its share of interesting places to visit!

One of the other places we got to go to was called The Temple of the Moon (Templo de la Luna) in Cusco. It’s an Inca archaeological site that dates back to as early as 900 AD -1200 AD ( Pre Inca by a culture called Killke) and then more carvings, building of masonry etc were later built by the Inca culture between 1428 AD -1532 AD.

This was a unique site, very quiet, with plenty of cool carvings and structures, horses, and farmland. It was a perfect day that involved less travelling or having to wake up super early. We still got out in nature to explore which was perfect.

What is one travel destination that changed how you look at the world and why?

If you’re new here, I have several more posts about Peru too on my page you can check out ❤️

Sometimes you just need to go to the most extraordinary places!

It doesn’t take much to convince me to go on an adventure. Bring snacks, good company, plenty of laughs and I’m in.

Summer adventures or summer relaxing and patios /chill vibes? Which team are you on?
