A final look and enormous thanks to everyone involved with We Move Together @platformprojectspace, most notably the five wonderful artists @sarahheinemannstudio, @stevehicksstudio, @megan_e_reed, @will_sears, and @kevinumana who I’m so happy and honored to work with!! ✨✨ Huge shout out to @elizabethhazan for reaching out at the end of July with the best question: “Would it be too much to curate two shows this season? The November show is open.” Within three days I had a concept and artists on board. Let’s go!!! 🎉
.
Thank you to the village: stellar friend @bengodward 🏆 for installing and lighting, @nealpaintingnow for graphic design, and @jameswadephoto for the installation photos. Thanks go to @sharon_butler for featuring the show in December’s Selected Gallery Guide @twocoatsofpaint. 👏 And lastly, looking through the guestbook, I’m so grateful to the many visitors who engaged with the art, shared their thoughts, and spread the word. Truly a pleasure!! ✨ More photos on my website (link in bio).
.
I’ll be back to curate the April show at Platform which opens in conjunction with @art_dumbo’s Open Studios. See you then! 😀

👩🏼‍🎨🧑‍🎨🎨 Artists tagged on images and as usual iPhone photos don’t do justice to the subtlety of color and textures which abound in this show. And a special shout out to the very generous @elizabethhazan for giving up some precious studio time to let us see the exhibition on a day the gallery space wasn’t open. #groupexhibition #abstractpainting #artistsweadmire #nyartcommunity

A breath, an open space, a moment of colorful calm. Steve Hicks’ “Untitled CXXXV” lighting up the wall in We Move Together, the show I curated for @platformprojectspace. 💛 @stevehicksstudio utilizes snap lines, chalk markings used in construction, to divide his canvas and add another layer to his wet into wet process. Swipe for the in situ views of this piece shown with paintings and sculptures by @kevinumana, @sarahheinemannstudio, @megan_e_reed, and @will_sears. ✨✨✨ We Move Together is closed for the Thanksgiving holiday, but will reopen this Thursday, December 4th, with special evening hours from 6-8. Come join us and meet the artists!!

Sarah Heinemann’s 💜💜 “Bad Scene, Everyone’s Fault” was the first piece I selected for We Move Together, the show I curated for @platformprojectspace in Brooklyn. Exemplifying the importance of color blocking and interposing lines, it called to me as a road map to community building. I know, I know, but hear me out. I see each artwork in the show as a community unto itself (colors and forms coming together), hear the individual pieces call back and speak to each other across the room, and feel that as a show we provide an opportunity to gather, something which is so needed in our crazy times. 🤝 Swipe for the in situ view of @sarahheinemannstudio’s painting alongside work by @stevehicksstudio and @megan_e_reed, then further for Emily Kam Kngwarray’s stellar 1996 work with a similar palette and sense of movement currently @tate. 🌟

This week Platform is closed for the Thanksgiving holiday, but please mark your calendars for next Thursday, December 4th when we’ll be open from 6-8 with artists present!! ✨✨✨
