「孤獨三部曲」在兩年前結束以後，一直在思考習慣了孤獨後的階段會是甚麼。當走出自己熟悉的空間，面對人群的恐懼，那一種曖昧不明的狀態，就出現在每一段關係之間。眼前的這一個人，可以成為朋友、同事、戀人或是家人，但是在看著對方雙眼的瞬間，從來都無法判斷將來會是怎樣的。在這一個不容許未知存在的理性社會裡，情感彷彿逐漸被遺忘——我們忘記了許多時候都是依循著自己的直覺而行，不是所有事情都有原因的。

在一切事情都看似不可信的時代，我們所需要的就是堅定的信念，因為除了相信，也沒有其他事情可以做了。從來都不是一個擁有宗教信仰的人，但是卻在自己的生命中出現了許多神，一直在身旁給予鼓勵和指引；你所信任的人就是你的神，而神是無處不在的。

並行的故事

幸運地在藝術路上遇到許多信任自己的藝術家和畫廊團隊，把那些在腦海內奇怪的想法，透過展覽的方式呈現出來。每一個人的策展方式都不一樣，自己只是一個想要在展覽空間內，讓觀賞者體驗迪士尼式敘事的人。每一次的策劃項目，都不只是想要傳遞藝術家最為赤裸的意念，同樣亦希望可以透過一個並行的故事，讓大家記起這一個展覽是在講述甚麼。

每一次邀請藝術家參與展覽前，都會預早準備好展覽文案及設計圖，然後就讓大家自由發揮，從來都不會干涉創作的部分。有一些人或許認為自己有權要求藝術家跟隨某一個特定的風格去創作，但是這是對藝術家最不尊重的要求。用人勿疑，不論是對於朋友還是在合作上，都是需要堅守的法則，亦是一份最基本的尊重。曲背是用來為自己的想法努力，而不是為了別人而卑躬屈膝。

焦慮而不焦急

這一次的《曲背與直覺》，官方的說法是來自齊克果在《恐懼和戰慄》中分析亞伯拉罕對於信仰的堅定，以及西蒙·波娃在《模糊性的道德》中表述主體與客體的雙重性；但是真正的靈感來源，是取材自日常閱讀時自己同時也在弓背，因而聯想到不論是亞伯拉罕，還是藝術家在進行創作時，都是同樣的姿態。雖然在籌備展覽的開首已經有完整的計劃，但是在展覽敘述上，也是到開展前兩星期收到藝術家的作品以後，才像拼圖的過程一般，把故事整理出來。

從來都是一個理性的人，但是在經歷了人生中某一些困難的時刻以後，也就逐漸變得從容。若有一些事情失去了控制，就不如讓它自然發生；偶爾還是會出現焦慮的想法，但是也需要焦慮而不焦急地走下去。

再次由衷感謝藝術家及畫廊團隊的信任。

For Stephen Thorpe, landscape is more than a physical place. Mountains, forests, and open skies become psychological spaces, shaped by memory, emotion, and imagination.

Framed by intricately painted rugs, his works bring together two seemingly opposite worlds: the intimacy of an interior and the vastness of nature.

A beautiful evening celebrating art at Miami Ironside!

Last night, Opa Projects welcomed guests for the opening reception of In a Landscape, a group exhibition co-curated by gallery founder Billy Tartour and artist Stephen Thorpe, who were there to welcome visitors.

Bringing together five artists, the exhibition explores landscapes through memory, imagination, and personal experience.

Co-curated by Billy Tartour and Stephen Thorpe, the exhibition brings together five artists who approach landscape not simply as a place to be observed, but as something shaped by memory, imagination, and personal experience.

Borrowing its title from John Cage’s 1948 composition, In a Landscape explores the space between the world we see and the worlds we create.

The Hunch marks Ora-Ora’s 20th anniversary and serves as the opening chapter of Ambiguity, the second phase of curator Cyrus Lamprecht’s long-term curatorial project, following the Solitude Trilogy (The Veil of Solitude, The Labyrinth of Solitude, and The Elegance of Solitude). The exhibition signifies a shift in the curatorial programme from an exploration of the experience of solitude towards a contemplation of uncertainty and intuition.

A hunch refers both to a physical posture and to an inner condition. It is an essential gesture of waiting and of making. To hunch is to bend forward, as one often does in prayer, anticipation, and silent contemplation. It is a posture associated with solitude and vulnerability, yet it also suggests persistence. At the same time, a hunch names an intuitive feeling, a sense that something is about to happen without rational explanation. It cannot be proven, yet it insists.

「曲背與直覺」為 Ora-Ora 成立二十周年紀念展覽，亦是策展人林靖風繼「孤獨三部曲」（「孤獨之紗」、「孤獨之宮」及「孤獨的優雅」）後所展開的第二階段藝術項目「曖昧」系列首章，標誌著其長期策展計劃由對孤獨經驗的探問，轉向對不確定性與直覺的思考。

「Hunch」作為名詞可譯為「直覺」，作為動詞則指向「曲背」。在英文中，兩者原屬同一詞彙的兩層意義，於中文翻譯中卻被拆分開來，分別指涉心理狀態與身體姿勢，從而形成一種介於等待與行動之間的姿態。

人在禱告或靜默沉思時，都會不自覺地弓背。看似孤獨而脆弱的姿態，卻蘊含著一種堅定的信念。直覺雖然無法被證實，卻反覆浮現，並持續逼近。即使沒有任何可見的證據，也無法被輕易忽視。藝術家總是依循直覺，在不同媒介之間反覆曲背。他們不只是依靠理性的思考，也被感覺與不確定性所牽引。在答案尚未浮現之前，身體已經開始前傾；彷彿某種尚未成形的意義，早已在行動之中作出回應，而直覺則推動著創作持續展開。

Hello, you beauty. This meticulously painted @sthorpestudio work waited patiently in storage for two years while its new North Carolina home was being built. Swipe ⬅️to see more detail. The depth of color, the thickness of the background paint compared to the delicate detail in the foreground…this is one you can look at for hours! My client knew she wanted one of Stephen’s pictures and, even if you cannot hang it immediately, sometimes you have to jump while you have the opportunity, which she bravely did!
