Off to a flying start here in Cornwall with Magic Marg! All the right ingredients are here for the best week: friends, fizz, scones (cream first 🤭), cats, fabric, quilts! For me, it was time to get busy with Marg’s pattern Side Stepping. A fabric buffet has been created, all those vintage florals are in their element. ☺️

“In the Beginning” has been completed here during our January retreat @cowslipworkshops where it all started, at a workshop with @deborahdorward in October. I stepped outside my comfort zone a little with the brown border fabric, though I felt I could draw out the other pretty colours in the rest of the quilt. It’s good to do something a little different now and then. This is my sort of project as it offered a bit of everything to keep me interested: EPP, broderie perse, appliqué and machine piecing. The fabrics are the usual mix of modern, repro and of course, vintage.

Very large piece of vintage French 🇫🇷 dyed dark blue thick cotton damask fabric, 4m x 150cm wide💙
BUT …. some areas of wear, minimal but still visible, plus a tear about 20cm long, cobbled together.
SO ….. lots of fabric for big cushions plus a couple of 150x150 tablecloths.

What a treat. Time at @cowslipworkshops never disappoints and a weekend with @deborahdorward was the cherry on top! 🍒
The most divine quilts (they were even finished 🤣) some excellent teaching on techniques, plus fun, friendship and fizz. 🥂
We are all praying this will not be the last time Deborah makes the epic pilgrimage from Oz… 🙏

What a fabulous 3 days at Cowslip, it was worth the journey 😊🪡🧵✂️

I made a start on my version of The Antique Sampler, Marg has been challenging us as usual in a lovely and encouraging way. I'm looking at fabric in a completely different way, I'm beginning to explore fabric combinations and try new things. I so love these days with Marg. The last time was 2020, just before the lockdowns, so this was extra special.

It was absolutely wonderful to be with a group of extremely talented, supportive and fun friends again. I've missed everyone...roll on January 😁

Cake was involved a lot too 🍰🎂.

The last three quilts are my favourite ones of Marg's designs which I will make....one day

A bit of serious stitching and some shenanigans 🤣

Day 2 of 5 and I'm quilting my last lozenge, this also happens to be my favourite combination of colours and fabrics.

Only a few more bits then it'll be done.

@stitcherydo kept us entertained with her Poppy quilt circles.
