Cocktail hour at a stylish wedding at Gonville & Caius College in Cambridge 📍 As fashionable weddings go this was up there, and I love reflecting on how such a modern celebration can be so authentic and editorial at the same time. Controversial to some, but I loved that kids were welcome and wildlife was spotted all in the setting of a historic Cambridge college. I also love the analogue film they requested, I think it accurately reflects the weather on the day which wasn’t mega warm, but classic English easy vibes if you get what I mean. A treat to stop by IIT Bombay campus today to chat with fellow St John's College alumnus Avishek Ranjan, who is a Professor in the number 1 University in India when it comes to mechanical engineering. His work on battery storage is key for the #energy transition (and #space too!). Avishek obtained his PhD from the University of Cambridge and its incredible Department of Engineering (which is across the road from Cambridge Judge Business School) and was a student at St John's College, which is where the former Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh studied (though he was at Faculty of Economics at Cambridge). 📸 from the IITB Infinity Corridor ♾️ 😎 Thank you to fellow @gates.cambridge scholar Vijay Kanuru for connecting us! #climaTRACES Lab, @crasshlive

University of Cambridge Open Day, #nofilter view from the library at St John’s College - Mashenka and I are wandering between centuries of history and laboratories building the future. Lots of #physics for us👩🏻‍🔬 @cambridgeuniversity We began at St John’s College, founded in 1511, exploring its historic courts, the Bridge of Sighs, the magnificent 17th-century Old Library, and the Dirac Room, honouring Nobel laureate Paul Dirac, one of the founders of quantum mechanics and one of Cambridge’s greatest minds @stjohnscam Every December, students from St John’s secretly place Santa hats on the college’s gate spikes overnight. No one officially admits responsibility, yet the hats mysteriously appear every Christmas and disappear after the holidays 🧑‍🎄 Another #Cambridge ritual is punting along the River Cam - a tradition that dates back more than a century and has become almost as iconic as the colleges themselves 🛶 The afternoon took us to the brand-new Ray Dolby Centre, the new home of the legendary Cavendish Laboratory. @cambridgephysics Physics has been changing the world here for more than 150 years. The electron was discovered here, the neutron identified, and the research that led to the discovery of the structure of DNA was carried out here. The new building became possible through an £85 million gift from Cambridge alumnus and sound pioneer #RayDolby, whose inventions transformed music and cinema. One of my favourite parts of the day was listening to postgraduate students and PhD researchers explain years of work in just three minutes. Astrophysics. Quantum tunnelling. Particle physics. Optical lattices. Electromagnetism. The first galaxies after the Big Bang. The ATLAS experiment at CERN ⚛️ I didn’t pretend I understood 😂 In between, there were Chelsea buns from Fitzbillies, baked since 1920, burgers at Flat Iron, and an overnight stay at Wilde Hotel @fitzbillies @flatironsteak @wildeaparthotels 🍔 Cambridge has been home to 124 Nobel Prize winners, more than any other #university in the world 😎

Congratulations to everyone who graduated today! It was wonderful to see so many of you and your guests in the Old Library this afternoon 🎓 Here is a piece of our graduation display, which featured manuscripts, artefacts and papers from the Library's collection celebrating the College's history and the achievements of our alumni. Grace and Joshua’s wedding day was full of historic elegance. They began their celebrations with a breathtaking ceremony inside the stunning St John’s College Chapel. A place that truly takes your breath away the moment you step inside.
