Did you know that music therapy can be beneficial for people of all ages whom are visually impaired?

Music Therapy can help aid in physical development/self-awareness, emotional & psychological well-being, unique sensory stimulation, cognitive development, & motor-skills enhancement. Music-based interventions can involve auditory training, creative instrument play, integrative and guided vocalization/singing, & active music listening. Music, in general, can have a profound impact on the daily lives of blind and/or visually impaired individuals and their families.

Hey hey hey Delta Gamma Center! Thank you for allowing MTSTL to be such a special part of your programming! Our wonderful team therapist, Sarah, sharing some tunes under the sun with kids, families and staff! 🥰 #allabilities #musictherapy #visualneeds #musicforeveryone #stlnonprofit

Season’s End for the St. Louis Blues Blind Hockey Club

ST. LOUIS, MO – The St. Louis Blues Blind Hockey Club wrapped up their 6th season a one week ago, today. This local nonprofit has been in partnership with the St. Louis Blues since 2018 and continues to be generously supported by Healthy Vision Association.

After the close of the 2023-2024 season last Saturday at Centene Community Ice Center, President and Founder, Jeff Vann, shares,” This season was especially fun because we launched our youth-focused initiative. While we are open to all ages, our club is looking to grow the 12 and under level.” Practices were held on Saturday mornings, September till March, from 8:20am to 9:40am. The ice split amongst the age groups for more individualized coaching and skill development. Most mornings, the younger skaters, coaches, and volunteers had the first 45 minutes to practice basic skills like skating, stopping, and stick handling, and the adult players joined the ice during the last 45 minutes to focus on specific drills, shooting, and scrimmages. All in all, the time on the ice was a success.

As the season came to a close and the Board for St. Louis Blues Blind Hockey team reconvenes to strategize for the 2024-2025 season, Vann replied, “It’s nice to see these kids smiling when they realize what’s possible when given the opportunity and it’s our hope to add to our current roster.”

@deltagammacenter helps children who are blind or visually impaired reach their full potential through family-centered, specialized services, and community support. Over 70% of Delta Gamma Center’s annual budget depends on community support.

Donating to Delta Gamma Center provides educational, developmental, therapeutic, and recreational services to children from birth through high school and their families, as they seek to live a life without limits from vision loss. This #GiftofSightMonth donate to DGC and support the cause!

We're so grateful for corporate partners like @spireenergy 🧡 Through their Day for Good program, they empower employees to give back locally, volunteering with United Way partner agencies like @epworthstl, @nfn_nursesfornewborns, and @deltagammacenter. Because of their charitable efforts and generosity, they are helping build a stronger foundation for our region. 🫶

Thank you, Spire! We are grateful for your partnership and support. #SpireServes

What a busy vision screening day for Flance! Our friends from the Delta Gamma Center for Children with Visual Impairments paid our students a visit today for the first time this year. Their vision screenings provide early intervention for our students and education and guidance for parents at no cost.👓

All Flance students 6 months and older received a vision screening. Some of our infant students were even lucky enough to get on the buggy to get to their vision screening.🚗

Thank you Delta Gamma Center for stopping by this morning!
