A very special opening reception last night 🐚🪡🧵🌼🐌 for @chicagotextilecenter and an artist talk with @hopeless_hope . So inspiring to hear from Hope about the importance of cultivating art practices and spaces that allow room for experimentation, slowness, expression, and imperfection rather than the hustle, presentation, and perfection that often feels demanded.

Thank you to every single artist who contributed your beautiful, thoughtful work and every volunteer who made the night so welcoming and smooth- it’s a huge labor of love to turn this space into an art gallery and host public events here for the sake of creativity and connection, and we hope all who came through the event left feeling that and feeling inspired!!! ❤️‍🔥

[edited to add: treats from @heybudchi will be offered for free after yoga 🥰🙌🏻]

We’re back with another chance to support @theparlorchicago as we head into our busiest season - and in return you get a relaxing afternoon of yoga with other members of our community. 🙌🏻

As the seasons change and the weather gets chillier, we love to take a moment to stop and stretch our minds and our bodies to prepare for the winter ahead. Amera Al-Ali creates a lovely atmosphere with gentle stretching and a grounding sound bath that enhances the whole experience.

Registration is required for the event and sliding scale tickets are available. Check the link in our bio to grab your ticket and secure your spot.

See you soon! 🧘‍♂️

the word really got out! our upcoming teacher resource fair will be twice the size of our last one, so we really need some help!

can you volunteer? day before sorting, or day of facilitation. sign up in our bio.

got stuff to share with a local teacher? we want to make sure we have plenty of supplies for everyone attending - but don’t buy anything new! we’re asking neighbors to check what they have at home. bring us the office / teaching / craft / cleaning supplies you don’t need, and we’ll get them into the hands of an awesome local educator.

RSVPs for teachers are currently paused until we feel confident that we can accommodate more people. thanks for understanding ♥️🫶

Tix are up for our next workshop at the gallery! Learn how to customize your clothing in a way that will give a whole new life to your pieces and make durable, wearable art! In this workshop class with artist and maker Lauren B @made.by.lauren.b , you will learn how to use nothing but pins and a sewing machine to turn a shirt into a custom piece.

This method was created for beloved t-shirt designs where the t-shirt got outgrown to save the design and create a new and better fitting shirt, but it can also work for making any fun graphic pop on a tee. Whether it’s too big, too small, or stained, something awesome can be made out of just about any t-shirt and we want to show you how so you can use this skill for your own wardrobe and friends!

Though we will have our instructor and other helpers on hand if you get stuck, a basic understanding of how to run fabric through a sewing machine will help you out for this workshop.

Bring your own sewing machine and two t-shirts you want to combine! Scissors, pins, patches and extra tee shirts provided for more scrap materials.

Tix on Eventbrite, 🖇️ in B!o of course! We also have 6 spots open for folks who don’t have their own sewing machine to bring but want to participate!
After you buy the ticket and before the event, you will get emailed details about arriving at the gallery and preparing for the workshop. The workshop is in an air conditioned room and has a wheelchair lift into the workshop space.
