🏸⚽ LOCAL SPORTS CLUBS: @instantphysio has been growing its partnerships with sports teams and clubs around Tooting and South West London, with two new clubs recently joining!

Ed from Instant Physio tells us, “We already partner with @tootingrunclub and Woodfield Grove Tennis Club @woodfield_grove_tc, and we’ve recently partnered with @fctootingbecwomen and St Margaret’s Badminton Club @stmaggs as well.

“We really enjoy working with local sports clubs. The idea is to support people with injuries, help them stay active and give clubs access to things like physio advice, strength and performance testing, educational sessions and member benefits.

“On Monday 28 September, Angus and I are heading down to a St Margaret’s Badminton Club training session with our force plates. Players will be able to have a go at testing things like their jump height and lower-limb strength, and everyone who takes part will go into a prize draw to win a free 30-minute massage.

“We’d really like to partner with a few more clubs around Tooting, Balham and the surrounding area. It doesn’t need to be a huge club. If you run a local football, rugby, tennis, badminton, running or other sports club, get in touch and tell us a bit about it.”

Instant Physio is a physio clinic in Tooting Bec offering physiotherapy, strength training and clinical massage, helping local people recover from injury and stay active.

🎙️ New health podcast from Tooting physiotherapist, Ed Thompson!

If you’ve ever wondered how to stay active, strong and pain-free as you get older, local physiotherapist Ed Thompson — owner of @instantphysio on Balham High Road — has launched a new podcast just for you.

It’s called The Active Life Podcast, and each week Ed dives into simple, evidence-based topics around joint health, strength, recovery and ageing well.

Ed says, “I started the podcast because so many people in the clinic were asking the same questions. Things like: is arthritis inevitable as we get older? Should I rest or move when I’m in pain? The start of the month means it is time for our @Babolat Community Spotlight – shining a light on our amazing badminton community. 🌟 As part of our new partnership, Babolat and Badminton England will give away a prize to the lucky winner! 🍀

In June, the spotlight falls on Lauren Soodeen, the former Chair of St. Margaret's Badminton Club in Tooting. Lauren is currently celebrating her 50th year with the club. 👏

Lauren kept the club going though sheer strength of character and good humour. She captained the Surrey Ladies' Sixes team for many years and, post-Covid, it was Lauren who got everyone back playing badminton so quickly. 💪🏸

The club has grown to include more than 100 members now and Lauren takes the time to get to know everyone and is always encouraging of new players and beginners. The life and soul of the club. ✨
