Hilary B. Jones has been working hard to create a more equitable music scene for all musicians, specifically those with marginalized identities who historically have not been included in the scene. @midriffpodcast debuted in early 2020 and has been a welcomed edition to the Stompbox Sonic podcast carousel.
In the podcast format Hilary asks her guests questions geared towards their experiences in the music scene as builders, performers, producers and more and intuitively guides the listener
Hilary can't be confined to a strictly podcast format. She writes about current events in the music scene or questions that have come up for her that she is striving to gain and share insight. Hilary also has developed and lead trainings for music industry professionals to help to build community and create an environment that is explicitly welcoming to all.
We are beyond happy that Hilary will be our keynote speaker at our birthday. Not only does she make the industry better by talking about the pain points in the industry, she also knows her gear and is a total shredder!
If you haven't listened to Mid-Riff check it out and give it a listen. And while you're at it give her band @handsybandsy a listen to as well

Episode 057 with Jennifer Turpin and Adam Brilla from @stomboxsonic is HERE! (WE’RE BACK!)

If you’ve followed the podcast for a while, you probably know a little about Stompbox Sonic who support the podcast and “provide musicians with an extensive tonal palette for auditory exploration. Specializing in effects pedals built by companies large and small, some locally crafted, some collected from around the world.”

Effectively, they provide pedal curation services— at their space, online, or even at your practice space or venue.

Collectively, Adam and Jen have played in one billion, mostly Boston-based bands, such as Lockgroove, Broken River Prophet, Animal Hospital Ensemble, Seana Carmody (interviewed in Ep 016!), Tiny Amps, Bicker, Argo Arkestra, Me Jane, Charlene, Fury Things, Your Reflection, Pitstain, and Babes of Mutilation.

We cover heavy retail armor, being treated as a musician, not a liability, and choosing not to work with gatekeepers. Plus, I get into preventing tokenism in hiring.

Welp, me and Adam are doing the damn thing today!! This is already a slamming good time! I am terrified of how many amazing guitars are all in a few rooms right now....anywho come by and see me and @stompboxsonic today as we share tone sounds with people thru a tasteful headphone setup for maximum intimate experience with these pedals! And, no, the Avacado burst is not for sale, but pleas replay the shit out of it!

This is gonna be dope. I am possibly going to bring some of the crap I have renovated, but I will be bringing guitars that I don't intend to come home with....thanks for letting me tag along @stompboxsonic ! #NorthEastGuitarExpo

Adam from episode 32 of Feel Free to Deviate and his company @stompboxsonic will be at the New England Synthfest (@nesynthfest) today, as will Giuliana (@biodigitaljazzhands) from episode 13. Small world! Kind of…
If you are there introduce yourselves so you can awkwardly look at each other while acknowledging that you know someone they also know. It’ll be fun!

Been waiting a minute to grab this @electronicaudioexperiments Dude Incredible. Big thank you to Adam from @stompboxsonic for making that a reality. Now to wire it into the board, plug it into the Model T + V4 and work on album number three.

Stopped by this awesome event and learned so much about a lot of local makers I have been meaning check out 🙌🏽 I didn’t get any pictures myself, but ran into @midriffpodcast at the @stompboxsonic booth! (not pictured is of course is the crew at @healyguitars, @karge.guitars with the lightest strat I have ever felt, monster tones at @nocturnalamplification, and more) 📸 @stompboxsonic
