🎂1 S T B I R T H D A Y W E E K E N D E R 🎂

We’ve upgraded our birthday party to a whole weekend of fun to celebrate one year since we opened the Social in Chelmsford’s Viaducts!

We have be absolutely blown away by the support we’ve had from you all since day one, and wanted to celebrate it with you properly, so we’ve gone and booked a few things to make it a proper weekender!

Friday will see the tapping of 8 ‘favourites of the year’ beers chosen by our staff and regulars at the bar for sale over the weekender. We will be open as usual from midday till 2am, and the party will get started in the evening with entertainment from local alt-rock covers band @byproxyband playing songs from Alter Bridge, Nirvana, Pendulum, RATM, Foo Fighters and more!

Saturday we will have acoustic acts playing in the bar throughout the day (some artists still tbc) for a days entertainment, with the beers still flowing and additional kegs to replace those that sell out, including our usual US imports, our dedicated Gluten Free tap and world class beers from top UK breweries. We will also be joined by Chelmsford’s very own @rokkitchen serving their wonderful Korean Chicken for you all to enjoy.

Sunday (hangover day) will be a chill out at the bar, with a chilled playlist throughout the day, with the @hotboxliveevents and @frankturner Afterparty in the evening, where we’ll be playing Frank’s greatest hits for all the attendees of the first performance at Hot Box after the show.

We would love for you to join us for the event, so please pop it in your diaries and help us celebrate a whole year of Radio City Social.

Cheers! 🤘🏼🍻🖤

I've been super lucky with a run of incredible gigs recently. Live music makes my world go round.

From Panopticon's sold-out, intimate gig at the Boston Music Rooms (almost painfully intense and completely extraordinary - Afsky and Cairns as support were also excellent), to Carcass making it all look effortless at an incredibly sweaty show by the seaside in Southend, to a slightly subdued Rammstein show in Switzerland, to Lord of the Lost in Chester - the first "proper" gig I've ever seen in my home city - showing they're much more than their (incredibly catchy and infectious!) Eurovision entry, I've enjoyed good times, indifferent and overpriced beers, and the best possible company I could have asked for. Now feeling slightly sad that I don't have anything booked in before, hmm, Bloodstock and Abba Voyage in August, Cosmic Void festival in September, and Damnation in November. Although Lord of the Lost are playing London in September - based on the set they played in Chester, I'm super keen to see them again if anyone wants to come along? :)

Part Two of Tuesday night's 100th @sxbottleshare at @thealehousechelmsford

After months of drowning in my own BS and feeling a bit distant, last night's 100th consecutive Bottleshare gave me all the warm fuzzy feelings in my tum tum that I needed. Love these beer geeks!

[food, alcohol] We're really happy that @bk_chelmsford will soon officially open its doors!

We've been lucky to go to two soft launch evenings and it impressed both times. The food is so good (special shout out to the cauliflower wings, the Korean style chicken burger, and the biscuit bake), the drinks selection is great, the refurbishment of the beautiful Quaker hall is sensitive and very welcoming, and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Special shout out to Tash and Max - am sure we'll see you in there again soon!

Wow! That was a mega Christmas 🎄share last night. At times it was hectic, but we enjoyed so many wonderful pours at some pace 😅 Great to see so many of the crew turn out for the last one of 2022 🍻🍻

[alcohol] Better late than never, here are some photos from our recent trip! We went from London to Brussels to Antwerp to Rotterdam to Lille, all by train, and it was so great to revisit Brussels and see so many new places.

Us being us, we of course took the opportunity to drink lots of very tasty beers 😅 Highlights were (of course) Delirium café and Au Bon Vieux Temps in Brussels, Billie's in Antwerp, Kaapse in Rotterdam, and La Capsule in Lille, all very very highly recommended! 🍻

[alcohol] What's better than a walk by a river that ends at a pub beer festival? Very little! Photo taken through a octagonal pint glass, distorting the faces
