Representation matters 🤎 I grew up hating my hair, especially as a dancer. I straightened my hair for years because “it was easier to manage.” Almost 9 years ago, I made the decision to wear my beautiful 4C hair, and I realized that with my natural hair, I can do any style. I’m so happy that this little girl saw herself in me. 🤎 It means so much to me knowing that she could look at me and see someone who looks like her. 😍🥹 @brooklynballet @stoopsbedstuy #blackballerinas #4chair #ballet #representationmatters

BED-STUY WALLS is going down again — and this year, it’s ALL FEMALE WALLS. 🖤🎨 Bed-Stuy is one of those places where the walls talk. There’s history, style, grit, tenderness, and an incredible amount of creative energy happening block by block. And ya girl got tasked with a BIG one. I’ll be traveling to Brooklyn for 4 days to paint my wall, and I’m so excited to bring this work into a neighborhood and project I genuinely believe in. (Shout out to my girl @yuzlymathurin_ for always letting me stay with you and @miki__mu for always inviting me!) The real talk part: I 100% pay out of pocket to participate because I care about this project and what’s happening in Bed-Stuy. But murals are expensive — especially when your studio is 1,000 miles away and your studio suddenly needs to be 30 feet in the air. 😂 For this wall, I’m personally investing in: ✈️ travel 🎨 paint + materials 🛗 lift rental + delivery 🏗️ production costs 🖌️ three full days of labor The biggest thing I need help with is the lift. A 3-day scissor-lift rental + delivery is approximately $1,200 and that one piece would make a HUGE difference in getting this wall painted safely and beautifully. So if you’re a business, brand, equipment company, paint supplier, collector, or just somebody who wants to help a woman get 30 feet in the air — I’m looking for sponsors. You can help with: 🛗 THE LIFT — the big one 🎨 PAINT + MATERIALS — fill the bucket 💸 PRODUCTION SUPPORT — help cover the costs 📣 AMPLIFICATION — share, tag, connect me to somebody who can help I’ll be in Bed-Stuy for three days making something that will have impact for a year, public, and hopefully a little bit magical. Come see the art come alive. Come say hi. Come support the women putting their marks on Brooklyn this year. And if you know somebody with a scissor lift… PLEASE SEND THEM MY WAY. 🌸 My ankles and knees thank you in advance. 🖤

Stay for the singinggggg! 🎶 Come with me to @stoopsbedstuy Fall Fun Series Kickoff🍂 Something about fall coming in and school being back in session made this feel necessary and nostalgic at the same time. This is exactly what I mean when I say invite me to the community events! There’s just something about being in the park in NYC… good people, fresh air, music, RESOURCES, and a little time to slow down.. that feels spiritual and relaxing. When I tell you @_elevatedexpression 🎤gave us a word for this new season! I did miss @igotmyguitar set 🎸, but he definitely held it down for the tenors and kept me on my note during the call and response 😂 Follow and support! Y’all know I’m always going to meet somebody new and enjoy the moment. Hey Genesis 👋🏾 A time was had! 😎🍂 Pull up to the next one! Thank you for all you do in the community! @stoopsbedstuy 💐 #fyp #explorepage #brooklyn #communityevents

Okay y’all, I’m VERY late posting this one. 😂💗 I’ve been in a really low-energy stretch lately and honestly just trying to give myself some grace while I find my way back into my rhythm. I’m finally starting to feel like I’m getting back on track, and I definitely couldn’t let today come and go without inviting y’all to sing with me. 🎶 TODAY in Bed-Stuy! I’ll be leading Singing Ourselves Home as part of the @stoopsbedstuy FREE Fall Fun Series. 🌸💗 One of the biggest reasons I created Elevated Expression was because I wanted to bring community singing back into our communities. Outside. In our neighborhoods. With people who may have never been to a song circle before. You do NOT have to be a singer. You don’t have to know any of the songs. You don’t have to prepare anything. Just come. 💗 Come sing. Come breathe. Come connect. Come be in community. And it’s FREEEEEE. 😂🙌🏾🎶 📍 Jackie Robinson Park Playground, Bed-Stuy Malcolm X Blvd between Marion & Chauncey 🗓️ TODAY, September 19 ⏰ Fall Fun Series: 3–5 PM 💗 FREE If you’re in Brooklyn today, come hang out with me. I would LOVE to see some familiar faces in the circle. 🥹🌸🎶
