🌱 Biochar = Climate + Farmer Wins 🌱

The Sitos Group team hit Sacramento last week to advocate for #SB643—a bipartisan bill that could unlock $80M to support carbon removal from in-state projects.

Our message: Think BIOCHAR.
✅ Shovel-ready
✅ Proven + scalable
✅ Delivered 86% of global CDR in 2024 (@cdr.fyi)

Why it matters for ag:
🌾 Healthier soils
🌾 Lower input costs
🌾 Stronger yields
🌾 Climate resilience

This bill is a chance to support growers as key players in California’s climate future—and make biochar more accessible where it matters most.

Let’s grow something that lasts. 🌎

What a truly enchanting evening at the Martinez Chamber of Commerce & Visit Martinez’s Annual Martini Shake-Off! The City of Martinez, sure knows how to celebrate its martini heritage in style. The Plaza Ignacio Park Fountain was mesmerizing with its twinkling lights.

This event was made even more special by the wonderful company of friends, both old and new. From live music that got our toes tapping to a fully catered dinner by Louie and his team from Zandonella’s that tantalized our taste buds, it was a night to remember. And the local mixologists were pure artists, offering a martini for every palate including mocktails.

The Martini Shake-Off is THE event for martini enthusiasts and social butterflies like me. Already counting down the days to next year’s soirée! Thank you Rebecca Faith Barrett and Nakenya Allen.

Out tonight at Martinez Chamber of Commerce Martini Shake Off!

Celebrating our home town cocktail, bidding on Taylor Swift signed guitars, and spending time with friends. And I’m really excited to have @shanellescalespreston join us here in Martinez! I’m sure we will be seeing her more and more in Martinez!

Also shout out to Shanelle for taking better photos than me. All the photos with really good light in the dark are her 📸

Dear friends,

With the majority of votes now counted, it looks like I am going to come up just short in my bid to be the next mayor of Martinez. I’m so proud of this campaign and incredibly grateful to my supporters, volunteers, friends, and especially my wife who all believed in me and my vision for our wonderful town. Congratulations to Brianne Zorn and I look forward to working with and supporting her in my capacity as Chair of the Planning Commission.

I firmly believe that in order for Martinez to realize its potential, we need new leadership. The voters were clear in this assessment as well, overwhelmingly opting for change and a break from the past.

Throughout the campaign, I consistently spoke of the tremendous opportunity and potential here in Martinez. The growth of our downtown businesses has been instrumental in Martinez‘ recent successes, with a new generation of entrepreneurs bringing their ideas and vision to life. We must embrace and build upon this energy to carry us forward while recognizing our rich history. Many of these business owners and the Martinez Police Officers Association have endorsed my campaign and I want express my deep appreciation for their trust and support.

Thank you again to everyone for listening and sharing your ideas over the past few months. Campaigns can be incredibly divisive for a community, but now is the time to come together to move #Martinez forward. I look forward to continuing to support our town and community in the years to come and wish @briformayor all the best as our next mayor.

Proud to have Former Chief of Martinez Police, Manjit Sappal's endorsement: “Sean has been a strong advocate for Martinez and the police department. Serving as chair of the planning commission and leading the Measure X campaign to support public safety and our officers, he has demonstrated his deep commitment to Martinez, the people, and its future. Sean would make an outstanding mayor and help the city realize its full potential.”

I’ve had the privilege of knowing Sean for several years. We first connected when he became one of my earliest bread subscribers. Soon after, I got to know Sean even better in a leadership capacity as he actively worked with concerned community members as a planning commissioner to make sure our downtown stayed safe and vibrant in the face of some pretty wild recommendations from city staff members. Sean has a demonstrated ability to engage his constituency, something that is vital to effective governance. This mayors race isn’t come cute little small town political exercise, it has real implications for how we experience and feel in a place we call home. Given the incredibly crowded field, margins for victory are slim and I’m sure you’ve gotten the same fear mongering, toxic mailers that I have from some of these ill equipped and wildly out of touch candidates. Our community has voted for change and new leadership in recent council races, paving the way for meaningful impact and a different kind of City Hall - one that cares about what we care about and recognizes the full potential of a Martinez we all know and love. A vote for Sean is a vote to push Martinez forward, with a mayor who takes an active role in creating and sharing their vision with others. There’s a reason so many small business owners are throwing their energy behind Sean. They’ve put their hearts into this community to make it better for each and everyone of us. They deserve a mayor who will do the same.
