After almost 2 decades of being fascinated with drifting, I never knew I’d be doing the wild things I’ve done this season. I watched Tokyo Drift on a 13 inch portable DVD player when my dad got me a copy sometime around 2007, and I always wondered how the hell drivers could drive this way.

It started with building a raggedy Sim in January 2025 , then spending hundreds of hours practicing and ultimately competing on the simulator. After a couple sim comp podiums , I took the plunge and bought a car. I showed up to the first Drift clinic at Lake Erie Speedway with having never put a car sideways and ended up effortlessly linking the layout my first attempt.

Lots of seat time , going back to the drawing board after every session on track got me to ultimately win the most Improved Driver Award at the Lake Erie Speedway 2026 Season awards banquet - It’s been one hell of a ride.

Massive shoutout to my Wife for being a constant pillar of support, she dealt with slamming sim pedals upstairs at 2 AM and calming me down when I panicked not being able to fix stuff on the car before an event. She makes sure we’re always packed & ready for every track weekend and is the prettiest cheer leader I could ever wish for. I love ya 💚

The driving definitely progressed a hell lot - The simulator experience basically translated right over and it was working out the fear of wrecking from there. Now at the end of a season a 10 car train doesn’t even phase me (unless I see a football helmet 350z). However, the memories and friends made along the way are definitely my favorite part - Shout out to each and every one of my homies. Love y’all degenerates.

Drifting has been more than a Motorsport , hobby or pass-time to me - After all the years I’ve spent living a busy life, I forgot to take a step back and live a little. That’s the void drifting filled for me and it’s truly a thing of beauty. Something about almost crashing your car every lap that tickles the soul a different way.

Hate to see the season end, but glad we got the chance to throw the cars at walls and each other. Can’t wait to kill more tires and party harder than ever next season!
