The world’s largest women’s self-defence organisation 🔥 Training women & girls to live without fear

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

You don't have to have had a bad experience to want to feel more confident about your personal safety.

You don't have to wait until something happens.

You certainly don't have to be frightened of the world to learn how to get yourself to safety no matter what the situation.

I want women to learn practical personal safety skills because they want to feel more confident walking, travelling, exercising and simply getting on with their lives.

Not because they're living in fear.

We learn to drive before we need to deal with an emergency on the road.

We are taught to cross the road, so we know what to do
We are taught how to swim, so we don't have to fear water

Why should learning personal safety skills be any different?

For me, self defence is about giving women more confidence, more choices and more freedom.

Have you ever thought about learning personal safety and self defence skills but kept putting it off?

Comment 🧡 and I'll send you details of my next personal safety and self defence skills introduction workshop.

How many times have you said yes to something when you really wanted to say no?

Or found yourself making up an excuse because simply saying no felt like you were being rude?

We're so used to explaining ourselves, worrying about upsetting someone else.

I want more women to feel comfortable with shutting down uncomfortable conversations.

You can say no.

You can change your mind.

You can leave a situation you're uncomfortable in.

You don't have to convince someone else that your reason is good enough.

That's something we work on in my personal safety and confidence workshops. Using your voice and setting boundaries are just as important as the physical skills.

You can be a kind, caring person and still have firm boundaries.

Do you find saying no easy, or do you catch yourself explaining why?

"Heard and safe. That's a rare gift."

These are the words of women who walked into one of our Introduction to Self Defence workshop, many of them having never done anything like it before.

They came in unsure. They left feeling more prepared, more confident, and in their own words, that their voice can be a powerful weapon.

Our next Introduction to Self Defence workshop is on Sunday 1st November, and I'd love you to join us.

In this workshop you'll learn:

✔️ Situational awareness, recognising risk before it becomes danger

✔️ Your voice, using it with authority and setting clear boundaries

✔️ Physical response, simple, effective and designed for women's bodies

✔️ Confidence and presence, how you carry yourself and the quiet confidence of knowing you can handle yourself
You don't need experience.

You don't need to be fit. You just need to decide that you're worth protecting.

📅 Sunday 1st November
⏰ 10:30-12
📍 Vida Active, Hove
💷 £25pp

Spaces are limited to keep the group small and supportive.

Pop me a message and I'll send you the direct booking link.

THE BEST PART OF THE EVENING? THE PEOPLE!

Just look at these fabulous ladies!

What a wonderful evening at the @female_business_awards Manchester.

So many lovely conversations, laughter, new friendships and opportunities to connect with women from all walks of business.

Everyone has their own story, their own challenges and their own reasons for doing what they do.

And I just love hearing about them!

There's something really special about being in a room full of women who understand the ups and downs of running a business and genuinely want to see each other do well.

No matter what stage we're at, there's always something we can learn from one another.

A huge thank you again to @femalebusinessnetwork for bringing everyone together and creating such a lovely atmosphere.

And to all the wonderful ladies I met, it was an absolute pleasure!

I've loved looking back through these photographs. So many happy faces and lovely memories.

Sometimes it's not just about the awards. It's about the people you meet along the way.

Here's to new friendships, supporting each other and hopefully crossing paths again soon!

"I didn't know how comfortable I'd feel until I was in the room."

This is exactly why we do what we do. 💛

Walking into a self defence class for the first time can feel like a big step.

Many women worry they'll feel awkward, embarrassed or out of their depth. And for lots of women, the thought of practising these skills with men in the room is enough to stop them coming at all.

Listen to how she describes her first session: not embarrassed, completely comfortable, and yes, we had a lot of fun along the way.

That's no accident.

Strike Back Self defence was built differently from the ground up, by a woman who needed it herself.

Women only.

Trauma informed.

Simple skills that work.

No choreography, no complicated sequences, no intimidating atmosphere.

Just practical, real world skills taught by women, for women, in a space where you belong.

You will not leave feeling like you have to become a different person to be safe. You will leave feeling like yourself, just more aware, more capable and more confident.

Thank you for sharing your experience so honestly. It means more than you know. 🙏

Come and see for yourself, pop me a message for our next intro workshop booking link on Sunday 1st November

The clocks go back on Sunday 25 October.

For many of us that means school pickups, commutes and evening walks home in the dark.

And without even thinking, we start adjusting. Which route we take. Where we park. Checking the back seat before we get in.

Every woman and girl on this planet deserves to feel safe.

That's not an aspiration. It's a right.

Our next Introduction to Self Defence workshop is on Sunday 1st November at Vida Active, Hove.

Real skills for real situations, so you head into the darker months feeling more aware, more capable and more confident.

One of the biggest things that holds Women back is believing they need to feel ready before they begin

Ready to try something new
Ready to speak up
Ready to put themselves first

When really, most of us never feel completely ready.

Confidence isn't something you wait for
It's something you build, one small step at a time

Sometimes the hardest part is simply making that decision to start.

What's one thing you've been putting off because you're waiting to feel ready?

❤️

A space to reconnect with you.

That's what so many women tell me our Strike Back classes have become for them.

For anyone who has been through a difficult or frightening experience, especially one where you didn't feel safe, it's very common to feel a disconnect from your body, or even a distrust of it.

That isn't your fault, and it isn't how things should be. But it makes complete sense.

Reconnecting needs the right environment.

No pressure. No expectations. No one telling you how you should feel.

In our sessions you move at your own pace.

You're heard, you're seen, and you're supported.

Sometimes that looks like practising a physical response. Sometimes it's finding your voice again.

Sometimes it's simply standing tall in a room full of women who understand.

Little by little, trust comes back. In your body, in your instincts, in yourself.

This isn't a martial arts class. It never was. It's a space where you belong.

You will not leave feeling like you have to become a different person to be safe. You will leave feeling like yourself, just more aware, more capable and more confident.

If you'd like to come along, or just ask a question first, my inbox is always open. 💛

She used to second guess herself. Now she listens to that feeling.

This is the feedback we hear from mums after their daughters train with us. And honestly, we hear it just as often from the women in our classes.

That uneasy feeling when something isn't quite right is one of the most powerful safety tools you have.

So many of us were taught to talk ourselves out of it, to be polite, not to make a fuss.

Situational awareness is one of the four skills we teach, alongside using your voice, physical response, and confidence and presence.

Learning to trust your instinct sits at the heart of all of them.

This isn't a martial arts class. It never was.

It's real skills for real situations, taught by women, for women, in a space where you belong.

Whether it's for your daughter, for yourself, or for both of you: you don't need experience.

You don't need to be fit. You just need to decide that you're worth protecting.
