I finally have the vinyls and I want to invite you to a very intimate album launch for **Tangos Imaginarios**
.
It’ll take place in two weeks, on Sunday October 11th at 2 PM at the charming @librairie.resonance.bookstore. This one will be a bit different, a vinyl listening session while sipping on some malbec followed by a Q&A led by bandoneon player and musicologist, Jonathan Goldman. It’s going to be fun and I hope to see you there!

Flor de loto is a typical elegy inspired by the great works of this genre, such as Henry Vieuxtemps’s Elegy for Viola and Piano, Op. 30, Alexander Glazunov’s Elegy for Viola and Piano, Op. 44, and Gabriel Fauré’s famous Elegy for Cello and Piano.
.
It is structured in a ternary form (A-B-A’) with a contrasting central section that uses new elements alongside the main motif of section A to create a dialectical conflict, which is ultimately resolved in the recapitulation, in the style of a Classical-Romantic sonata.

.
¡Espero que lo disfruten! 🎻

I’m super excited to announce that on April 10 my new single and the last one from my upcoming solo album Tangos Imaginarios, will be released: Jeanne y Paul, featuring the amazing @marcelonisinman !!
.
We recorded it in Zurich at Seenheiser Studios, with the incredible work of engineer Andre St-Denis @bonnevillerecords !!
.
This is a lesser-known piece by Piazzolla, originally written in 1972 for the soundtrack of Bertolucci’s film Last Tango in Paris, but for some reason it was never used… and now we’re lucky it exists!
.
Marcelo arranged this tune specifically for this album, adding a freer cadenza for solo cello in the middle and space for improvisation, while always respecting Astor’s musical universe.
.
I hope you enjoy it! 🎻

~ ¡Termina una semana inolvidable en el @festivalquitocellos !
. 💛 ¡Ecuador, volveremos!
