ZepFOCUS! Today’s shoutout is for the incredibly touching and important short film @theparalian_film 🌊 Sometimes grief overcomes us, blinds us, and over time, has the potential to destroy us if we can’t let go. In The Paralian, a retired fisherman’s descent into madness forces him to confront his grief when visions of his late wife beckon him to the sea. The film features exquisite cinematography by ZepFEST alum @blickenstaff.dp and is beautifully directed by @theklexguy With heartfelt performances by @markbracich @tylerboruffvo @reedalyson and Amelia Ferrante, this one hits home for so many of us. Grief doesn’t have to necessarily be an end - but the beginning of a new chapter if we let our hearts open up. A high recommendation from our jurors!

Frames from ‘The Paralian’ featuring @reedalyson Shot this film in Oregon last year and it was an amazing experience. We had a fantastic team and a beautiful location. Everyone had a ton of fun, even on the 16 hour drive to the Oregon coast. Reed was wonderful to work with and gave an incredible performance. Can’t wait for people to see the film, should be coming to festivals near you soon 🤞 Writer & Director @stromberg.films Producer @rin.stromberg23 @orlandograysonfilm 1st AD @cartertaiwalkerfilm Starring @markbracich @tylerboruffvo @amelia.grace105 @reedalyson @lukekhstewart Director of Photography @blickenstaff.dp 1st AC @taysialuke_films 2nd AC & Still Photographer @erinwiththewild Gaffer/Key Grip @bridgersorensen24 Colorist @_rikiwatanabe_ Music by @machineryinside Sound Mixer @m.m.keeler

Filmed in September of last year, it contains some of my absolute favorite shots I’ve captured as a cinematographer. Livvy did a great job enveloping this character and was wonderful to work with as always. He'd rather be with her. Even there. This scene goes from unsettling to something almost tender — Ray caught between what's real and what he's lost, pulled toward the one place he shouldn't go. Score by yours truly for The Paralian, directed by @stromberg.films. #FilmComposer #FilmScore #IndieFilm #Filmmaking #OriginalScore
