The Power of Parental Support, or the Lack of It 💔

"I was the best in England at my time. Our school won everything. But when I turned around… my family wasn’t there."

In this powerful moment, @mathew_1message opens up about how a simple pat on the back, a ‘well done’ from a parent, can make all the difference. Kids crave support, love, and encouragement, but when it’s missing, it leaves a void.

That void? It affects self-esteem, confidence, and the choices they make. Some kids chase validation in the wrong places, in the streets, in gangs, and in crime just to feel like they belong somewhere.

🔥 @tyson_g_official and Matthew dive into the harsh reality of how a parent’s presence (or absence) can shape a child’s future.

Growing Up in Violence—Breaking the Cycle 💔

Imagine being a child, walking into the kitchen, and seeing your mum hit the ground. The person who’s supposed to protect her is the one causing the pain.

@mathew_1message grew up witnessing domestic violence firsthand, and as he got older, he refused to let it continue. Standing side by side with his brother, they made it clear, "Not our mum. Never again."

But the real challenge? Breaking the cycle, not just reacting to it. 💯

Too many young men grow up in homes where violence is normal. It shapes them, hardens them, and leads them down dangerous paths. But the real power lies in choosing a different way.

💙 Breaking the Cycle: Teaching Our Sons Love Isn’t Weakness 💙

For years, showing emotion in the Black community has been seen as soft, as if saying "I love you" to your son somehow makes you less of a man.

But when @mathew_1message finally heard his son say “Dad, I love you. I’m proud of you,” he realized that moment was worth more than anything money could buy.

It’s time to normalize love, vulnerability, and breaking generational patterns. Being tough isn’t just about the streets. It’s also about being emotionally strong enough to show love.

🔥 @tyson_g_official and Matthew dive deep into the importance of breaking outdated stigmas in this powerful episode.

Do you think us as parents and grown-ups still carry on old school ways of parenting, which ultimately affects the ways our children act as they get older?

Running the Streets Like a Military Unit 🪖

When it came to gang life, @mathew_1message and his brother Gary ran things like a well-oiled machine. Weapons ready, movements planned, no hesitation.

Gary was the mastermind securing the guns, the cars, and making sure every move was calculated. “We moved like soldiers,” Matthew explains. There was no room for mistakes in a world where hesitation could cost you your life. But the streets don’t come with happy endings.

🔥 @tyson_g_official and Matthew break down the raw truth behind gang life, leadership, and the dangerous mentality that comes with it.

Surviving a Machine Gun Attack—A Miracle or Fate?

In this chilling moment from Struggle 2 Strength, @mathew_1message recalls the night he stared death in the face, with a machine gun pointed at his chest. In that split second, he prayed for the bullets to miss his vital organs… and seconds later, the gunman lowered his aim.
