Everyone who came to the show and spent their Thursday night with us… Comel la korang. I could hear you singing with me so softly so intimately. It felt sweet and such a release to perform again. Tbh there was a lot of anxiety leading up to the show but I’m happy how it turned out 💐💐💐

In the Realm is an immersive evening of meditative, hypnotic techno paired with fragrance by perfumer Essentique. Sound and scent are woven together across the night each phase of the set carries its own fragrance, released into the space as the music evolves.

A low pulse. A trace of scent in the air. Something shifts, and you’re no longer where you started.

KL family: join us on October 22nd celebrating 10 years of Botanic Records and - for the first time on vinyl - Orang’s 2016 EP, Everyone.

Orang will be performing live, supported by Botanic DJs. Doors from 8pm, RM25.

The weekend is looking busy. 👀

DJ Nu-Mark lands at Muro, Silica Gel bring their live show to KL, and Moutou takes things upstairs for a Sunday sunset rooftop session. Over at Sky Society, OTT x MFL Throwdown brings together a gig and a fighting match, while UR-MU opens its doors for an Open Wall Exhibition featuring 79 local artists.

And that’s barely scratching the surface. Studio Fono is also getting dub-heavy with an international soundsystem link-up, alongside a whole stack of other gigs, parties, exhibitions and things worth leaving the house for.

Sticky Keys (Gonja Hifi)

Since 2010, Sticky Keys has been rocking crowds at Reggae and Hip Hop parties throughout South-East Asia, spanning Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Bali, and Bangkok. Since establishing himself in Bangkok, he has earned a coveted spot in Gonja HiFi, one of Thailand’s prominent sound system crews. With his dynamic and innovative track choices, he guarantees to keep you on the dance floor.

Rasrei

Reinaldo Cansino, known professionally as Rasrei or simply Rei, is a Macau-born DJ who has found in electronic music a way to transform harsh realities into something beautiful – music as a way of praising life and escaping from the mundaneness of daily routines. This search led him to immerse himself in reggae and dub, styles he recognises as fundamental matrices of contemporary electronic music, responsible for the emergence of genres such as dubstep and all in between

Musically, Rasrei has developed a style deeply rooted in sound system culture and dub, with an approach that favours connecting with the audience.

Miroll (LDC)

Mirol is a DJ, producer, and selecta holding down the dub reggae scene in Malaysia. As
one half of Langkawi Dub Club (LDC) alongside MC King I, he is the sonic mastermind
behind the island’s underground sound system culture.

Behind the decks, Mirol serves up a heavy blend of roots reggae, deep dub, and digital
steppas to keep the dancefloor moving. When he isn’t producing tracks for LDC—like
their hard-hitting debut single “Superior Race”

Studio Fono is an independent, music-centered community space located on the top floor of The Zhongsha

This week gets loud. 🔊

Golden Mammoth bring the psych-rock haze, a very loud shoegaze/post-rock gig promises to rattle a few windows, and the DJs are coming out in force.

Over at Joloko, a mini Merdeka-themed festival honours Tun V. T. Sambanthan through art exhibitions, DJs and live music. QI Bar gets taken over by HAUS x BABYLYON for a night spanning house, techno, tech house, groovy house and groovy tech. And yes, there’s also a band making their return from Japan.

Basically, guitars, decks, distortion and a little bit of everything else. Your weekend has entered the chat. 🎸🪩
