One of those memorable days, in pouring rain, deep in Bovey Valley Temperate Rainforest, with @sarahgillespieart and @frangynn35 and a great group arranged by @hester_berry and @davidsmalemusic and guided by Danielle Semple from the @woodlandtrust . A rare and beautiful habitat. There will be a show @studio.kind next year, to coincide with Earth Day. So exciting to start to learn about this Atlantic rainforest, rarer than Tropical Rainforest.

fun research for Soapbox Karaoke coming up at @studio.kind next month as part of the Back to the Market programme! I didn't expect doing karaoke on my own in the living room would feel quite so vulnerable... 😂 This is Mr Blindsided (to the tune of Mr Brightside - The Killers) and this and frankly too many songs with altered lyrics (loosely) about free speech are gonna be available to sing along to if you want, or rewrite your own and sing them instead! If you've ever wondered why the kazoos sound a bit flat, well now you know #soapboxkaraoke #iknowimnotasinger #contemporaryart #performanceart #whatisitidoagain

One of my biggest concerns when painting from photographic references is how to convey a two dimensional person in a way that looks as though they are depicted from life, with the rise and fall of their breath, their weight on the earth or slumping slowly into chair. So, it’s important for me to attend life drawing classes at @studio.kind to remind me of how bodies behave, how un-still they are, how arms are joined to necks with the strain of muscle and tendons, to provide a sense of the body’s fragility and strength. It’s also a good opportunity to meet like-minded individuals, of all ages and all abilities, who also need to connect with their own inner artist. #studiokind #devonartistnetwork #lifedrawing #barnstaple #innerartist
