In the program of Curatorial Lessons 2026, we want to invite you to the public lecture with Sylvia Sadzinski @sylv_inski on Friday, 25. September at 5 p.m. at ziegel @ziegel_graz_community (Strauchergasse 6, 8020 Graz):

„Queering and Cripping Within Curatorial and Artistic Exhibition Practices“

In this talk, Sylvia Sadzinski explores how queering and cripping function as artistic and curatorial methods. Using case studies from contemporary art exhibitions as well as her own curatorial practice, she highlights approaches that challenge normative structures, amplify marginalized voices, and rethink exhibition frameworks. The talk positions queer and crip curating as political and social correctives, showing how exhibition practices can disrupt entrenched institutional norms and reimagine the museum as a space for world-making and emancipatory encounter.

Sylvia Sadzinski is a curator, lecturer, and writer working at the intersection of contemporary art, curatorial practice, and feminist and critical theory. She is a curator at Kunsthalle Osnabrück, Germany, and from 2019 until 2026, she was artistic co-director of the feminist, non-profit art space alpha nova & galerie futura in Berlin. Her work focuses on queer-feminist curating and institutional critique. Since 2017, she has been researching and publishing on these topics across academic and artistic contexts. She currently teaches at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) and other international institutions in the fields of curatorial theory and visual culture.

Friday is here friends! ❤️‍🔥

Today we start the day at noon with Camilla Tellefsen's workshop. In the afternoon we continue to our film screening, a collaboration with Ubuntu Film Club, where we start with four shorter films by Julischka Stengele, Maeva Belloiseau, Carmen Baltzar, and Iida Valmé. After these we are excited to present Q5; The Quintessentials by Sarada Sarita, celebrating W*acking. You don't want to miss this!

In the evening we gather for a special performance night at the Stoa Theatre Hall where we get to enjoy amazing performances by Gato/Gatoty, UrbanApa LIFT, Raphaël Beau & Noia "sky" Kekoni-Kattelus, Amanda 007 & Lydia Ofi Teresia, as well as Ama Kyei + YEBO.

We at the ANTI Festival are hoping for gentle recovery to Julischka and looking forward to our dialogue to continue.

Tekstipohjaiset Offering Space -esitykset luovat kolme tilaisuutta kokoontua, kuunnella ja vaihtaa ajatuksia julkisissa tiloissa. Stengele kirjoittaa muun muassa halusta, kivusta, ruoasta, kuulumisesta, kielestä, terveydestä, arkkitehtuurista ja kehosta.

Teos ei kuitenkaan käsittele pelkästään taiteilijan tekstejä, vaan myös yhdessäolon hienovaraisia vuorovaikutussuhteita: kuka puhuu, kuka kuuntelee, ketä kannatellaan – milloin, missä ja miten.

Offering Space on kutsu astua sisään, jäädä, tulla vastaanotetuksi, jakaa ja luoda yhdessä. Se lähestyy vieraanvaraisuutta – ei palveluna, vaan yhteisenä huomion osoittamisen tapana – “hostaamista” etiikkana, joka liikkuu kehon, äänen ja tilan välillä. Täällä vieraanvaraisuus muuttuu aktiiviseksi huolenpidon eleeksi, jossa yhteisö muodostuu kollektiivisena tekona läsnäolon, haavoittuvuuden ja vastavuoroisuuden kautta.

The text-based performance, Offering Space creates three different occasions to exist together, listen, and exchange in public spaces. @studio.stengele writes on topics such as desire, pain, food, belonging, language, health, architecture, and the body.

But this work isn’t about the artist’s texts alone, it also is about the subtle negotiations of being together: who speaks, who listens, who is held – when, where, and how.

Offering Space unfolds as an invitation: to enter, to stay, to be received, to share, to co-create. It approaches hospitality not as a service, but as a shared practice of attention – an ethics of hosting that moves between bodies, voices, and spaces. Here, welcoming becomes an active gesture of care, where community is formed as a collective act through presence, vulnerability, and response.

My trans siblings: I adore you! I believe in you. I love you. I am here rooting for you every day. I want to see you surrounded by love from within and from without.

Thanks to you I am here, feeling at home on Earth.
I am lucky to be surrounded by love.

I owe you my very life, without you I would literally not be here or be me.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Together we are liberating ourselves from the chains of oppressive forces, and reminding each other of what we are truly made of: Love!
Mother Earth loves us and and is the physical manifestation of the cosmic force, (call Them what you will) who brought us here for the task of shining our special light, to stand up for each other and for all beings, and to work towards the liberation of all beings in all worlds.

This week I am recovering from hip replacement surgery, and I feel so lucky to be cared for by my loved ones!

Here are some photos from my life, which today, thanks to you, is a trans life that is worth living.
I wanted to share a few photos of some of the folks who love me, and respect me, use he/him/Daniel and inspire me to be all of who I am. There are more not pictured here.
I am not sharing photos of all the kids and young adults in my life that I love so much because I respect their right to privacy. But they are a huge part of my life and who I am today. Helping raise kids as an uncle and godparent these past 30+ years has been one of the greatest gifts of my life.
