We believe public art can do more than decorate a space.⁣
⁣
It can change how people move through it, interact with it and experience it.⁣
⁣
This first bench was designed for @clarion.housing as something people could physically engage with, blurring the line between sculpture, seating and the surrounding landscape.⁣ We are now working on our new public seating project!
⁣
This is the kind of work we love creating at Lois O’Hara Studio: artwork that becomes part of the space. ⁣

Our curved benches, made in Sussex and installed in Portslade.

A winning competition proposal with @clarion.housing, turned into 3 sculptural public benches designed to replicate the forms of the landscape. Hand crafted by our amazing stonemasons in beautiful york stone

Lois O’Hara’s distinctive forms became the starting point for a fully considered luxury interior scheme. Translating fluid shapes, curves and gestures from the artwork into the physical details of the space. From sculptural forms and bespoke fabric archways to layered textures and architectural details. The artwork was developed into a complete interior experience, where the original language could be felt throughout the room 〰️ #interiorspace #curvedarchitecture #luxuryinterior

@loisoharastudio isn’t just about public space, but also interiors. We translate our visual language into objects, furniture & artwork designed to be lived with.

A curve can become a handle. A shape can become a chair. A colour can set the tone for an entire room.

From a single object to a complete interior, everything exists as part of the same world. We are so excited to show you what’s coming…. 🔐 #contemporaryinterior #burgundy #interior #curvedchair

Public Art ⁣
⁣
We design seating and installations that invite people to stop, sit and spend time together. From a small place to pause to a larger public intervention, we want to make shared spaces feel more joyful and considered. We can’t wait to show you what’s coming!⁣

This is where it all began…

A few years ago, LOS started with a collection of mugs.
What began as an exploration of form quickly became something we wanted to explore further. After taking a step back, we returned to those early ideas with a new perspective.

Looking at the mugs again, we realised the forms we were creating had the potential to exist beyond the objects themselves. As an artist and architectural visualiser, creating environments has always been at the heart of what we do. The mugs were simply the beginning. Now, we’re taking those same ideas and bringing them into spaces.

This is where LOS began. And it’s only grown from here 〰️ #homeware #mugs #contemporarydesign

Meet the founders behind Lois O’Hara Studio.

@loisohara is an artist and designer with a passion for creating colourful, playful spaces that bring people together. @studio_chapple comes from a background in architecture, with an eye for turning ideas into immersive, considered environments.

With our complementary backgrounds, it felt natural to bring our skills together and create something bigger.

Lois O’Hara Studio was born from a shared ambition to create better public spaces, more experiences, and more opportunities to bring art, design and people together in a comfortable way 🤲🏼 #creativestudio
