A Legacy of Excellence and Unity During Community Engagement Session #3, we listened as residents shared meaningful stories about E. Pat Larkins and other pioneers who helped shape the Pompano Beach community. Two powerful themes emerged: Mr. Larkins’ spirit of excellence and his belief that “We walk as one because what happens to us is as one.” These stories are helping us understand the legacy the new community center must honor and carry forward. Join us for Session #4 on Wednesday, October 14, at 6:00 p.m. Your voice matters—and we are listening. #EPatLarkins #PompanoBeach #CommunityEngagement WeListen CommunityLegacy

Northwest Pompano residents gathered Monday evening at the existing E. Pat Larkins Community Center for a community engagement session that felt at times more like a family reunion and oral history project than an architecture meeting. #villijnews

The building doesn't start with blueprints. It starts with you. Architect Stacey Boynton (Studio-US) put it plainly: "Our responsibility isn't simply to design a space — it's to make sure the community's voice actually shapes what we design." That's why every comment, question, and piece of feedback from Northwest Pompano Beach residents is going straight into the vision for the new E. Pat Larkins Community Center. This is your building. Share your stories. Come help shape it. 🗓️ Monday, September 21 | 6:00 PM 📍 E. Progress looks different when the community has a seat at the table. #ThrowbackThursday to a room filled with residents, business owners, organizations and neighbors who showed up because they know the future of a community should be shaped with the people who live there. It was also an opportunity to meet Stacey Boynton of Studio-Us and Damon Hewlin of Meticulous, the architects leading the design of the new E. Pat Larkins Community Center. Congratulations again to both of you. We’re excited to see what’s created through this partnership with the community. The conversation isn’t over. The design team will be back to hear more ideas, and we hope even more voices are in the room next time. Redevelopment isn’t just about what gets built. It’s about who helps shape it. We’ll keep you posted on the next opportunity to participate. #NewDowntownPompano #ThrowbackThursday #PompanoBeach #LotusMindset #CreatingPathwaysToProgress #WheelOfEconomicOpportunity

Last night was nothing short of magical! Our @soflonoma chapter gathered at the historic Hampton House to honor the Black architects who helped shape our chapter and paved the way for us to practice, thrive, and lead. It was more than a conversation, it was a spiritual experience. To stand in a space where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, and so many other icons once stood… A place that was once listed in the Green Book, serving as a sanctuary for Black travelers when the world refused us rest. It was humbling and unforgettable. I had only ever seen the Hampton House in movies, but being there in real life, listening to our architectural elders and current leaders tell stories of resilience, vision, and legacy, it reminded me just how important it is to keep our forefathers close and to truly listen when they speak. Last night reignited my passion to keep pushing and not just for design but for our rightful place within the profession. Shout out to @nsaintlo27 and @category_ky for their determination to make this event happen. We are the legacy. And we’re still building. #SoFloNOMA #BlackArchitects #HamptonHouse #GreenBook #LegacyInDesign

I don’t usually post much about my boys, but I felt moved to share this one. Since he was 6 years old, my oldest has been saying he wants to play at LSU. We’ve never understood why LSU or how he knew so early, but he never wavered. No matter what, that dream has stayed firm in his heart. This past weekend, we took him to LSU for the first time for a day camp and I honestly don’t have the words. Watching him there so full of joy, surrounded by players with our village standing behind him was one of those moments that just hits deep. I don’t know if he knows something I don’t or if there is a bigger spiritual lesson unfolding here. But whatever it is, I’m committed to doing everything I can to support this dream, as long as it’s aligned with God’s plan. This kid is teaching me so much about mindset and the quiet power of confidence. I always thought the parent was supposed to be the teacher but sometimes our kids turn the tables and show us the way. Love you my beybee in my Louisiana accent. 💜💛🐯 #geauxtigers #manifesing @deandreboyntonjr @thatkidjayden
