POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

A Legacy of Excellence and Unity

During Community Engagement Session #3, we listened as residents shared meaningful stories about E. Pat Larkins and other pioneers who helped shape the Pompano Beach community.

Two powerful themes emerged: Mr. Larkins’ spirit of excellence and his belief that “We walk as one because what happens to us is as one.”

These stories are helping us understand the legacy the new community center must honor and carry forward.

Join us for Session #4 on Wednesday, October 14, at 6:00 p.m. Your voice matters—and we are listening.

The building doesn't start with blueprints. It starts with you.

Architect Stacey Boynton (Studio-US) put it plainly: "Our responsibility isn't simply to design a space — it's to make sure the community's voice actually shapes what we design." That's why every comment, question, and piece of feedback from Northwest Pompano Beach residents is going straight into the vision for the new E. Pat Larkins Community Center.

This is your building. Share your stories. Come help shape it.

Every community has a story, and every story deserves to be heard.

Please join us for Community Engagement Session #3 for the new E. Pat Larkins Community Center on Monday, September 21, 2026, beginning promptly at 6:00 p.m.

During this special gathering, we invite community members to share stories about E. Pat Larkins, his remarkable impact on Pompano Beach and South Florida, and other local pioneers whose leadership, service, and contributions have helped shape the city.

We want to hear from everyone - youth, young adults, seniors, longtime residents, and new members of the community. Come share a story, honor someone whose legacy should be remembered, or simply listen and learn more about the people who helped build the foundation of this community.

At METICULOUS, our design process begins with listening. We listen first so we can learn from the people of the community and thoughtfully incorporate their stories, history, culture, and aspirations into the design of the new E. Pat Larkins Community Center.

Your voice matters. Your stories matter. Your presence matters.

Come help us ensure that the new center not only serves the community’s future, but also honors the people and stories that made that future possible.

Monday, September 21, 2026
6:00 p.m. sharp

We look forward to listening, learning, and building the story of this important place, together.

Congratulations to Stacey N. Boynton and Damon Hewlin.

Communities don’t happen by accident. They are shaped by people with vision, discipline, and a commitment to creating spaces where others can thrive. Thank you for the work you do and the impact you continue to make.

Hay amiga… can we talk about how rare this is? 🥹

Three Black women. Three businesses. All moms. Sitting in a Black-owned matcha bar + bookstore just being — no pitching, no proving, just understood.

Nobody tells you how lonely building can get until you find the women who get BOTH sides — the motherhood AND the empire. This is the table I prayed for. 🤎

Tag the friend you’d build with. 👇

I remember a professor in architecture school pointing out how I would subconsciously match my outfits to my studio models.
Guess some things never change. ❤️

This is where the real work happened. Inside the breakout sessions at the I’m the Boss of My Life Youth Conference, the conversations became hands-on, interactive, and deeply intentional.

Students weren’t just listening, they were participating. Asking questions. Practicing skills. Stepping outside of their comfort zones. They engaged in mock interviews, explored how to communicate with confidence, learned how to present themselves in professional spaces, and gained real insight into different industries and career paths.

Every session was designed to connect. To take what can feel distant or intimidating and make it real, tangible, and accessible.

You could see it happening in real time.
The focus. The curiosity. The confidence building with every interaction. This is what learning looks like when it actually reaches them.

I'm The Boss of My Life youth conference was a great experience. Always an honor to speak with students about architecture and what we do as architects.
