Making of for @lwustudio

Inspired by the mycological world, the Post Garden Verde hand-painted wallpaper combines delicate florals, fauna and architectural details. Glazes and stucco bring depth and texture to every detail.

Rigour and feeling. Light and warmth.

Two elements, Lui and Lei, designed by Marialaura of @studioirvine for @fornacedemartino, conceived as two characters within the same architectural language.

I always love working with Marialaura — her way of balancing precision with something more instinctive feels very close to me, and to the way I like to photograph.

Here, openings, proportions and repetition give structure to the objects, while light does the rest: passing through them, changing their presence, until, inevitably, Lui and Lei start looking back at us.

The stoneware Ball & Burlap Planter takes its form and texture from a horticultural technique. When moving trees and shrubs the root ball is often wrapped in burlap and twine — It’s called 'ball and burlapping'. I thought the aesthetic would make a nice planter. #horticulture #ceramics #generativeceramics
