10 years old. My little jokester with the biggest heart even though you don’t let everyone see it, creative and caring, wise beyond your years, fiery and kind. I’m so lucky to be your mama.

Somewhere between just trying to get through the days and realizing summer is almost over, a whole lot of life happened 🎈

Forever grateful that you were born. And how damn lucky am I to share this journey with you. Godmama, artist, sister, best friend. I love you - and Evie and Gigi and Adin and Sue Ann - endlessly.

I've been writing and emailing my congresspeople for decades (lol) but at this point it's probably just more effective to use social media to personally bug/ harass our elected representatives, it now may be the only way to even be able to even get their attention, etc ✨😱✨

this is the first of many videos to my Brooklyn rep @rep_velazquez strongly encouraging her to start CAUSING TROUBLE using procedural tools that don’t require a majority (Quorum calls, UC objections, forcing recorded votes, the two-hour rule, various holds?) in the name of (at the very LEAST!) *obstructing* the ghouls and monsters executing the hideous, WWIII baiting, violent/illegal imperialist US takeover of Latin America (+ soon going to war with Iran ❌🤮)

anybody in Brooklyn seeing this please start making videos like this of your own 🙏🏼✅

*and (still) worthy of similar harassment are @aoc and @repjeffries , even though IMO they're kinda both morally deformed beyond recognition🤮 ❌ ➡️ we have to make these people do their goddamn jobs by ANY means necessary !✨😱✨👊🏻💥 (*and I hope it goes without saying that in no way am I suggesting that this ought to be our main avenue of dissent! ..ETC)

22 years ago today you made me a mother. As a child you wore that cape - every day - out to save the world or at least your little sister! As a young man you are that same boy in a cape - and more than I could have imagined or hoped for. You are someone whose light keeps shining no matter what you face, who thinks and acts really from their heart and conscience in ways not many do. You grow and learn from life’s hurts. You care when others are hurting. You challenge my thinking and call me out to be the best I can be. And who you are makes me want to be thoughtful and kind and strong and forgiving and steady and courageous - and adventurous!Thank you for making me a mama. And for being this amazing human whose easy laugh and smile light up any room you’re in - and our lives.

Happy 95th Birthday to “promising young composer” @maestrodavidamram 🎂

I first met David at @joespub over a decade ago while filming the first installment of @onenightstandmusicseries thanks to the inspired curation of @studioleslielyons and since then have had the privilege of seeing him speak and perform all over NYC.

David’s musical accomplishments are too many to list but include collaborations with Bob Dylan, Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk, Charles Mingus, Dizzy Gillespie, Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsburg, Sonny Rollins, Stan Getz, Patti Smith, Odetta, Pete Seeger, Willie Nelson, Steve Martin, and many many more.

During that first meeting David shared some wisdom that’s stayed with me ever since, “Anybody can play with anybody as long as they pay attention.” HBD Maestro!

A love letter to the Prince of Darkness from a fan…

Dear Ozzy,

So much has happened since I put on Black Sabbath Vol. 4 in my room one night at boarding school in 1981. The Catholic nuns were asleep down the hall. Of course, I had heard all the Sabbath albums already but they were experienced with groups of friends, usually in a party situation. In my room that night, I was truly alone...
