i recently came up on a 143 CD collection spanning 4 decades.

amidst this “physical media” craze that’s taking people by storm, i started to think about what going analog really gives us.

is it ownership? is it novelty? i think regardless of the reason behind it, one thing is clear, and it’s that there is no better way to curate your taste than by exposing yourself to the unknown.

out of the collection, i maybe was truly familiar with 9 albums, and only 3 or 4 of them had i listened all the way through, front to back.

this past week of having these cds in my arsenal have resulted in me listening to artists whom i’ve never heard of, and i am beyond grateful to the person who put this together for curating such an eclectic mix.

i’ll make sure to not only take great care of it, but put it to good use. thank you, wherever you are ❤️

SINO KA? Episode 9 @kristina.doucette

Watching Kristina’s journey unfold is an honor. We met doing Here Lies Love on Broadway, and that experience was an invitation for the both of us to unpack and reexamine our relationship with our families, culture, and our heritage. It’s very special to have a person in your life who has such a vastly different point of view than your own; each day I am urged to look at the world around me differently, with greater patience and care. To more of this.

SINO KA? Episode 7 @trishalvaro

Trish is the embodiment of Kapwa in action. Kapwa is defined by @sikodiwa as “our participation in shared humanity.” Through kamayan dinners and community organizing, Trish Alvaro brings our people together one event at a time. She’s most recently achieved this through @filoarts.ny “In Bituin: Constellations of Filipino Creativity,” a community event that shined a light on many facets of how Filipinos are creative across many artistic mediums. Thank you, Trish, for all the work you continue to do, and for our interview.

SINO KA? Episode 6 @rayjmon

Ray and I’s relationship has blossomed into a beautiful creative collaboration ofer the past few years. Working together on @thefilipinogoodbye , on a commerical for @misosleaf , and now @filoarts.ny - it’s been a quite year of thoughtful conversation and joyous promotion of Filipino creativity through so many creative mediums. I hope this interview serves as a bookmark in our cultural and creative efforts, one we can fondly look back on. To more, and more.
