Howdy, Sugars! I’m Val, and I am the maker and (mostly) one lady show behind @sugarcampshop. I’m from Dayton, OH and I create wearable art for people with something to say. Every one of my 100% cotton bandanas starts with a hand drawing, and are crafted through the lens of my Midwesternly gritty perspective. If you have a little edge to ya, and believe human rights should be afforded to all, we’re gonna be besties 🌈.

This will be my first ever visit to Bloomington, and I’m so proud that it will be for @bloomingtonhandmademarket! In these weird times of billionaires and bot farms, it’s more important than ever that we show up to these unique markets to support small businesses & the little weirdos. 👻

Here’s the deal, until men are actively working to hold other men accountable and doing away with toxic masculinity, then they are part of the problem. A problem that is damaging to not just women, but all genders.

You made it through the “survival mode age” of parenting and you finally have some more flexibility as the little(s) gain independence.

But, you’re also burnt to a CRISP, level of burnt out. Who am I outside of “mom?” That is a perplexing stage we all hit after we have time to think about something other than nap & feeding schedules.

First, give yourself room to play & find what brings you joy. It’s often what little you or teen you enjoyed. Since getting out of the PP fog & survival mode I have started dance class again, I buy the concert tickets, I go to the art museums, and I wander around the little shops. A lot of these I can do WITH my kids. But we also need nights out with our friends, that fill your cup & feed your creativity. For me it’s live music. For you it could be a one-on-one night at a wine bar, happy hour, or a late night dinner with the ladies.

Book the sitter (or trade childcare with a friend or get a family member). You’ll be a better parent & a happier YOU for it. Tell me what experiences make you a better you!

The sexy campaign from @alexandra.cascio to recruit more poll workers is brilliant and while I’m sure there are at least 4 people who’d like to see my boudoir photos I felt my skills would be better used stabbing fabric for democracy. If you’re able to work the polls in November there’s a link on @alexandra.cascio page that will take you to @powerthepolls . If you can’t work the polls but need to check your voter registration or register yourself I dropped the link for @votedotorg in my bio.

I also did a satin stitch with metallic floss, so I’m obviously serious about spreading this message.
