✨ TRADER SEWS TOTE ✨

I finally made one!! 👜🧵

And I filmed the whole process for a new sew-along tutorial on YouTube! If you’ve been wanting to make one of these, come sew along with me. 💕

Of course, I had to add a little personal touch with my custom Twin Cities Frocktails 2026 patch. 🪡✨

I’m obsessed with how it turned out!

Would you add a patch to yours? 👀 Tell me what you’d put on it!

Josephine’s “school year” ends this week, so I wanted to make a little something for her sweet teachers!

Per usual, what I thought would be a quick project, was not. I’ve been wanting to try #screenprinting, so I added her classroom name on the inside. I definitely need to practice more, but it was so fun.

I used my #cricutmaker to make the stencil for the silk screen and also made freezer paper stencils for the names on the pockets. The stencils were easy, and I loved how they came out. For both, I definitely used too much ink, and they came out stiff, but totally fine for tote bags. I heat pressed them so hopefully they will not wash out. If you have any tips, I’d love to hear them!

For the sewing, I used @summitdogdesigns #freesewingpattern for the #tradersewstote. It’s such a great pattern! Instead of sewing straps, I used cotton webbing to save some time.

I used @spoonflower dogwood denim that I picked up from last summer’s fabric swap organized by @cityofseams and @whatabbeywore. I made one for my MIL and one for my SIL first to test out both the ink (why one is a very surprising green color 😬). The pattern came together smoothly except both my serger and sewing machine hated the thick seams, but we persevered!

Hopefully her teachers love them!

✨I want it, I got it✨

Whipped up a #tradersewstote / #sddtradersewstote by @summitdogdesigns over the past two days in between work meetings and all life has to throw at me!! I wanted a new dance bag for a while (I’ve been using a really old drawstring bag for the past year and a half) and finally realized I could repurpose old tote bags into a new tote bag! I chose my pattern and off I went. I had two old tote bags (sorry, no before pictures) from supergoop and another event in Toronto.

This was a quick sew, though I resisted changing my thread colour (until I realized what a difference it made 🫣). I used the existing straps from the old bags and attached them together to extend them. I already packed her up and she still has room for my water bottle and other goodies I might add later 🥰 can’t wait to debut her next Monday!!

(I am sorely tempted to make another one of these because they are SO cute…time to go thrifting for tote bags)

Mods: increased the straps by 6-8”. I had extra length so pinned and tried it on and increased it until I could out it over my shoulder easily. Added a @kylieandthemachine label. Was considering adding a key leash but I was lazy and wanted a quick win.

THE TRADER SEWS TOTE!! 😍 (it’s FREE)

Hello all - my dear friend Belle (@summitdogdesigns ) snagged up several of those cutie TJ Totes before I’d even heard of them, then got me hooked, then gave me one, then MADE A PATTERN so we all can dupe it and live a glorious life full of tiny totes!

Go to her page and check out the ✨ #SDDTraderSewsTote ✨ @summitdogdesigns

Not only is this pattern free (but you can buy her a coffee bc she deserves it), it was thoroughly tested, has a projector file (no print at home tho bc it’s just rectangles & the pattern gives you those dimensions) and the instructions are fully illustrated!!

This took me about 1-1.5 hours to make, and is a great use of scraps! Although I didn’t use scraps bc I didn’t want to 🫣

My base fabric is white canvas from @nickoftimefabric that I didn’t order but appeared in my box (while other things I did order were missing 🙄) and the webbing and bottom are from @sewtopia (I lined the base with the white canvas so it would have structure).

Go make one or ten, they’re just a delight and perfect as a lunch bag, purse, or farmers market tote (when you’re trying to not buy all the things).

Has your dog ever staged a full-on poop strike at the first drop of rain? 😅

That’s exactly why I designed the Rowan Raincoat, to keep your pup warm, dry and willing to potty even on soggy walks.

With 15 sizes, two styles (hood or collar), and a comfy adjustable fit, it’s the rainwear solution of busy dog parents.

Bonus? It packs up into a wearable backpack so you can bring it along just in case the weather turns. ☔️🐾

Launching tomorrow! 🧵🪡 Don’t forget to tag #rowanraincoat once you make yours!

Love any excuse to make swimwear👙

I made a swim suit hours before last year’s @saltlakesewciety swim party and that bathing suit has been my go to and absolute favorite for the last year.

I decided to make this a tradition and whipped up another bathing suit just in time for this years party (and pulled @hannahstitchez into the tradition too 🥰)

Top Pattern: @paradisepatterns #sommarcamisole - size C with the medium bralette - I slightly scooped the back piece at the top and bottom for a little less coverage and used 3/4” elastic instead of 1”.

Shout out to @enderallsews who inspired me to use this pattern for the top - what a great idea!!

Bottom pattern: @megannielsenpatterns #mncottesloe view D, size 4, also swapped the 1” elastic for 3/4” at the waist bc that’s what I had!

Current measurements: UB: 31” B:32”, W:26”, H:35”

Fabric: succulent swim from @saltlakesewciety - also got my 3/4” cotton swim elastic there! First time seeing that!

Time/Cost: the materials cost about $15 total (I used a 1/2 yard total), I’ve made each pattern many times before but Sommar is $15 and Cottesloe is $29. It took 2.5 hours to make both pieces.

I made each piece unlined and was very pleased with the support when swimming! I didn’t add elastic to the armbands of the top, and was worried about that but this fabric is sturdy enough that it’s not an issue!

Thanks to @her.two.hands / @saltlakesewciety for organizing the swim party - such a great motivation to make swimwear!
