ANTICIPATE…tendrils of chance weaving their way inside and throughout. Opportunity blossoms alongside peril. Choices are made, fraught with yearning.

ROUTE…by route, a path is forged. Plots and plans follow courses unknown. Time ticks steadily onward, yet momentum hovers on the edge of disaster.

DECAY…inevitably swirls and envelops. A slip into the murky bog is eternally inescapable. But matter is never truly destroyed, only transmuted.

The first day of @ghostcanyonfest kicked in grand style at HQ last night, with a freewheeling solo set from @holy_sons and excellent support from @kathryn__mohr and @sun_swept_ / @_ryanocerous duo, after a spirited panel discussion on the current state of music and how AI is impacting it. More excellent shows booked today at @waxtraxdenver and @hidive_denver so get out there!

And the final interview I did for Ghost Canyon Fest 2026 is with Sarah Christiansen. I had intended to contact her and Ryan Wong awhile back but then when it seemed like I had scheduled too many to actually get done before the festival a handful of those fell through. Then I ran into Sarah at Blanket and asked her and last minute she was available. So thanks, Sarah. Been wanting to find an excuse to do an interview with Sarah sometime because she's to my mind an important part of our experimental music community in Denver for at least the last few years when she became active as an artist and performer. She got her start going to Avant Garden and then started her solo project Sunswept which incorporates flute, production, synth and loops into an entrancing ambient soundscape. She also has a cool band called Field Theory that is an improvisational ambient type of band that hits me as having a jazz aspect to how the music comes together. She has a duo with Derrick Bozich called Snowswept that combines more abstract electronic dance music and Sarah's organic ambient sound. Sarah also organizes a monthly event called Emergent Forms that brings together talented improvisers in the local scene in various combinations for a unique type of show. And she's involved with Creative Music Works, the premier group bringing New Music to Denver metro and beyond. I've always found Sarah to be cool and observant and someone that is very much involved in the community in a way supports its infrastructure and creative development in not always obvious but significant ways. She plays the first night of Ghost Canyon on Thursday 8/26/26 at HQ in a collaborative improvisational set with Ryan Wong which given both parties involved is going to be very cool. Hope you enjoy listening if you do. Link in bio.

🚨Ghost Canyon fest is less than a week away (!!!) and the Thursday kickoff at @hqdenver is just killer. After doors open, we’re tackling all things DIY in the age of AI slop with Denver industry greats from @smashedplastic, @snappylittlenumbers, @braeburnrecords, @power_goth, and @hidive_denver.

Followed by legendary live performances from @_ryanocerous and @sun_swept_, @kathryn__mohr, and @holy_sons ?!

🚨Some ghostly birds told us there’s only a limited amount of tickets left for the kickoff… don’t say we didn’t warn ya.

We are ten days out from the start of Ghost Canyon and we are extremely excited to highlight a special collaboration for this year’s Fest: Ryan Wong & Sun Swept!

Ryan has been a songwriting force in the Denver music scene since 2019. Whether it’s with his solo work or in Supreme Joy, Ryan has created a formidable discography that touches everything from noise to surf rock and even some touches of soul.

Sun Swept is the nom de plume of Sarah Christiansen. Sarah creates music through a variety of methods and tools. Most prominently, her flute playing evokes an expansive palette of sound and color, not unlike a Colorado mountain sunset.

Both of these musicians have been favorites of ours for a while. Having them part of the Fest, and in collaboration for the first time no less, promises to be one of the highlights of the weekend.

Grab your tickets for their show at @hqdenver with @kathryn__mohr and @holy_sons ASAP. And don’t forget to grab your tickets for the rest of the weekend before they sell out!!!!
