🏀❤️ THE WHY BEHIND DUNC FEST

For 37 years, our dad gave so much of himself to the game of basketball and the community of Delta. Countless hours in gyms, countless practices and games, and countless young lives influenced along the way.

But his greatest impact was never measured in wins and losses. It was measured in the relationships he built, the confidence he inspired, the lessons he taught, and the difference he made in the lives of those he coached.

To us, he was Dad. To so many others, he was Coach.

Dunc Fest was born out of a desire to honour the man, the coach, and the legacy he built over nearly four decades.

It's our way of saying thank you. Of bringing people together. Of celebrating everything he stood for and ensuring that the impact he made continues to be felt for generations to come.

🎥 This video tells the story of WHY we do Dunc Fest. Not just what the event is, but the love, gratitude, and purpose behind it.

Because 37 years of giving to others deserves a legacy that lives on. ❤️🏀

Four seasons down 🏔️

For those who don’t know me, I’m Sam — the founder and lead director of Altitude Basketball.

In 2022 I started Altitude with a simple vision: to create more opportunities for girls to play, compete, develop and see how far they can take this game. I did this because there was a lack of opportunity for girls to compete in an environment that was dedicated to them.

We’ve just wrapped up “Season Four”, and the last few years came with plenty of highs, some difficult lows, and a lot of lessons along the way. Building something from the ground up isn’t always easy, and this season challenged me and the club in ways I didn’t expect.
But through all of it, one thing has remained the same.. the girls are the reason we keep going.

The athletes who have grown in confidence.

The ones who have stepped into bigger roles.

The ones who have pushed themselves outside their comfort zones.

The ones who have discovered what they’re capable of.

& the ones who simply found a place where they love playing basketball.

THAT is what Altitude is about.

As we enter Season Five, we’re going to keep building. Keep creating opportunities. Keep challenging our athletes. Keep developing our programs. Keep bringing people into this club who believe in what we’re trying to create.

There is still so much more I want to do for girls in basketball and I’m grateful for everyone who’s trusted me and my little club to do that for their family.

To the athletes and families who have been here from the beginning, to those who joined us along the way, and to the coaches who have given their time and energy to this club.. thank you.

Thank you for believing in Altitude. Thank you for sticking with us. & thank you for being part of the journey.

Four seasons have built the foundation.
Season Five is where we keep building on it.

We’ve come a long way.
But we’re not done climbing.

🤍 Sam
