One year ago today we were celebrating #Easter 2019 with huge sawdust murals across many of our campuses! With images designed by @sunsetartique @mds_impressionist_art @mariale_mh @rochellicer and @draw.me.close for four of our @saddlebackvisualarts expressions.

To see our group of #visualartists begin to participate in things like the stage design in the main worship center, opening videos for main events, and art pieces in the sanctuary has brought so much joy and faith. It's been encouraging to see 30 artists every week on Tuesday nights come to say, "I want to be part of community and serve my city with my creative gifts." 1 // The #Artisan Team completed a mural on the Lake Forest Campus. Designed by communications team and dreamed up by @romzinator
2 // The #Cards Team completed hundreds of handmade cards with handlettering and mini-abstracts for our outreach team to give to anyone who moves into the neighborhood.
3 // Mojdeh gave us a poured painting demo at the most recent Artist Showcase in the plaza room. Four artists share their work with our community, organized by the #Exhibits Team.
4 // the #CommunityArt Team created a “sonic living room” where people could be part of the music and dancing or draw an image over the sound wave that translated into the word “love”

Great to help bring an #interactiveart project on the #soundwaves of the words love and amor into community along with an #artinstallation I called the “Sonic Living Room” during the @dtsantaana #artwalk and @soundwavefestsantaana with @saddlebackvisualarts @uaoutreach @saintcityhiphop.

From the Working Artist Initiative show, currently exhibited at @saddlebackchurch Lake Forest campus Worship Center gallery. •

These artists are average church members like you and me, with job and family. Not professional artists. We form a small group for 8 weeks to hold each other accountable for spiritual support and to form a creating habit.
Results are these beautiful works that were inspired by God and their spiritual journey. (I didn’t participate this year)
Each piece is unique and shows the artist’s heart❤️. •

Great job everyone‼️👏🙌🎉

Celebrating the first studio! this space has empowered our ministry to create large-scale projects for @saddlebackchurch over the years...An interactive mural about Christ’s ascension. a wood block wall that celebrated history and held prayers. A sculpture of the body of Christ that each church member could add their tie to. A 35-foot interactive tapestry to celebrate our 35 years as a church. Easter Murals made out of colored sawdust. The list goes on! FYI The community is staying but our space is changing! #studiospace #artscommunity #artandchurch #artandfaith #interactiveart #communityart #publicart [SVA Leader @scubahomie shaped our last Arts Collective to celebrate moments like these and all the people who have been changed over the years. Thank you Steven!]

Celebrating all the stories and life change that took place in our first Art Studio space @saddlebackchurch . This space has been a gift that has been in the mix of many changed many lives; evident in the 20 individual testimonies shared live last night. It is with mixed feelings we close this space, but with joy we anticipate the future of the arts ministry at Saddleback. Pray with us for our next space and next season! Just think... If we could do what we did through this little portable room over the last 7 years, whatever is ahead will be so much greater. Space is simply a tool, it is not an identity. Whatever space we occupy next, we will use as a tool to transform community through Christ centered creativity. Thank you little portable room for all you’ve given us! And thank you Saddleback Church and @pastorrickwarren for believing and investing in this ministry.

This space❤️❤️❤️

A place to gather.
A place of refuge and safety that you didn’t need to perform and just be.
A place of being real and to connect with each other.
A place of creating community, artworks, friendships, and family in God.
A place of solitude and focus at times. •
•
Tonight we celebrated this space at the Arts Collective as we move out of this space at the end of the month. This space saw firsthand the growth in ministry over the last 8 years. •
•
All of the shared testimonies are evidence that this space was the conduit of many changed lives, but it really was the community and relationships that we had built that made the difference in those lives. •
•
We are all feeling the similar things (sadness, mourning, memories, gratitude, appreciation, hope for what’s to come) but to actually sharing them in words tonight was therapeutic and necessary process as the community. •
•
We will miss it❤️❤️❤️ and it’s okay. But we’re trusting His plan over ours🤲🙏🙌. •

It’ll be a special Throwback Thursday on the 15th as our #ArtsCollective celebrates, remembers, and honors all that God has done to foster #community and #creativity over the past many years in our space. If you have a memory or story, please share it thru the link in our bio.

I had the most amazing time celebrating my very talented friend @colorbliss.studio Rachelle’s 50th birthday party! Every detail was perfect, and we all had the time of our lives creating art and donating to charity. I had the immense privilege of teaching collage to some truly incredible talented and inspiring people. I am so grateful for this friendship. Rachelle, you rock! Thank you for your extreme generosity, giant loving heart, and off the charts talent too!

#Vibrant #colors bursting into fullness from the #asphalt, a #symbol of new life and #resurrection! The vision of @aldofratti inspired our church toward #alfombrasdeaserrin! And @sunsetartique conceptualized the symbolism of this #mural. Happy #Easter. He is risen. @saddlebackvisualarts #easteratsaddleback

On this #GoodFriday, I’m thinking on this: The #light #shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it... as we project an #image onto the ground from 50 feet high, to trace out awaiting the vibrant colors that we’ll give it for Easter. @sunsetartique inspired the image @saddlebackvisualarts
