Nail Fix in the 6ix: PAY YOUR WORKERS! On October 9, 2026, Workers’ Action Centre members took the fight for their stolen wages to Nail Fix in the 6ix’s Leslieville location (Toronto). Over 10 nail technicians who worked for the salon are collectively owed more than $70,000. Despite several orders to pay from the Ontario Ministry of Labour, not a single cent has been paid. We are calling for community solidarity ✊ with these workers until they are paid what they are owed! Take action now: 1️⃣ Call the salon (416-438-6888) and tell them you won’t book an appointment until they pay their workers. 2️⃣ Share this video and spread the word to friends and neighbours in the community. SHOULD WE CALL A DAY OF ACTION AGAINST POLICE VIOLENCE AND HARASSMENT IN JANE FINCH? The violent confrontation and detention of two Black 16-year-old students by plainclothes Toronto police officers in Jane Finch on September 23, 2026, one of whom was arrested and charged, received widespread coverage after we publicly condemned the incident. Since then, other Black youth in our community have also been targeted and assaulted by police officers and TTC special constables. We have repeatedly raised concerns about police violence, harassment, and the targeting and criminalization of Black and other racialized youth. Yet local politicians and all levels of government have remained silent about these incidents. How long are our communities expected to wait for a response? Should we organize a Day of Action Against Police Violence and Harassment in Our Communities to demand accountability, stand with our youth and families, and collectively challenge the policing, surveillance, and criminalization of our communities? CEIP’s aim can be stated simply: we demand that the City of Toronto end all business dealings with corporations that are linked to severe human rights abuses, such as genocide, ethnic cleansing, apartheid, illegal military occupation, mass surveillance and mass incarceration. Ending the City’s business dealings means no more investments of public funds, and no more purchases of goods and services from human rights abusers. With your help, we’ll be working to make ethical investment and procurement an issue in the upcoming municipal elections. Being paid less than minimum wage? ⚠️ That’s WAGE THEFT! ⚠️ Now that we have a new #minimumwage, here are a few reminders for your next paycheque. 1. Adult employees cannot be paid less than the minimum wage of $17.95. 2. You cannot sign away your rights. 3. Only young students get paid less than the general minimum wage ($16.90). 4. Minimum wage applies to all workers, regardless of immigration status. If you think you are experiencing wage theft or are unsure, 📞 call the Workers’ Action Centre at (416) 531-0778.
