[Former?] quilt shop girl in Portland, OR. I love quilts, my neighborhood, the pups that keep me out walking, and a nice glass of wine.

When given the now familiar to me name of Taliesin Myrddin Namkai-Meche for the SJSA Remembrance Project, I was both set at ease and felt an odd weight of responsibility. In a project designed to highlight and raise up individuals who have lost their lives unjustly due to racially motivated violence, I figure a middle-class, white male (whose killer was quickly apprehended and granted a trial) is an anomaly. That said, Taliesin gave his life standing up, with two others, to shield 2 young women of color who were being verbally assaulted with racist and Islamophobic slurs while riding public transit in Portland, Oregon. *continued in comments* #sew4justice
