i had an absurd amount of fun at the @thetexastattooconvention with billy & tammy, brought my dog, got to see old friends, made new ones, had delicious booth snacks, and got to celebrate the fifty year anniversary of the worlds first tattoo convention in the place it started, with the person who was there to help start it 🩷

Tattoos.

Everyone’s got a love/hate thing with tattoos. What’s wild is watching people who talked the most shit end up getting tatted anyway.

I lowkey think everyone should experience tattoos in some form… either getting one, watching a friend get one, or just appreciating someone else’s art. Not everything has to “mean” something. It’s your body. Put whatever the fuck you want on it.

I turned 18 and went straight to the shop. No hesitation. Crazy to think it’s almost been 10 years of getting inked. Yeah yeah, I’m old 😭 but I’m nowhere near done. Back piece is officially on the agenda this year and I’m soooo excited.

Only real boundary: no neck tattoo. Family asked, especially my mom, and I’m respecting that. Everything else (minus my face) is fair game.

Now that I’m a parent, my perspective’s a little deeper. I want my son to understand tattoo safety, intention and patience. I’ll never shut the door on it for him but I want him to really think. Everyone’s got at least one they side eye later. I’m lucky, I don’t regret mine. Would I tweak a few? Maybe. But tattoos age with you. They grow on you. They become part of the story.
