Come spend the day with me working for a cruise line in Rochester, NY 🛳️

My degrees are in tourism and I’ve been a tour guide for various organizations over the last 12 years!

We went on Riverie with Rochester By Water, I had a quick lunch break back at the port, and then spent the afternoon at the Susan B. Anthony House & Museum

When I went to college, I graduated with my bachelor’s a semester early exclusively so I could move to Alaska for the summer cruising season. I graduated in December 2019 (so you can imagine how that went!)

Before I was accepted at George Mason University, I had also applied to cruise ships because I had my Associates already. I said whoever I heard back from first is what I would do! I was accepted to GMU and offered a position in activities for a cruise in Australia on the same day… I grew up in Henrietta, went to MCC, so Australia being the literal farthest corner on the planet from where I’d spent my whole life? It was a difficult decision. And, I was going to have to leave for Australia with barely 2 weeks notice. And in those 2 weeks I wasn’t just having goodbye parties, I was needing to schedule doctors appts to get updated vaccinations and make sure I was okay to travel across the world for an extended period of time 😅 As you may have guessed, I stuck with moving to Virginia first.

When I told people I was studying tourism, I was told by many I could only be a travel agent and that I probably wouldn’t even use my degree. I’m very thankful to continue to prove people wrong about how I utilize it all the time, here in Rochester, NY. 🚢💕
