🐢Leatherback sea turtles nest on the shores of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, typically from March through July, and one of the most popular beaches for nesting leatherbacks in SVG is Big Sands, Sandy Bay, where females return year after year during the nesting season to lay their eggs.

The SVGEF Sea Turtle Project, in partnership with the Ministry of Fisheries, protects these nests by empowering members of the Sandy Bay community to document nesting activity as leatherbacks come ashore, protect nests as they incubate while monitoring for threats, and conduct nest excavations once hatchlings have emerged.

Here we see members of our Sandy Bay turtle team working together to ensure these leatherback hatchlings are given the best possible chance to begin their journey to the sea as they were found remaining in the nest during an excavation.

This #SeaTurtleWeek, not only do we celebrate the sea turtles, but we also celebrate our monitors, partners and local communities who continue to protect sea turtles every day.

This project is made possible thanks to the @conservationcollectiveorg x @edmistonyachts partnership.

Thank you to everyone who makes this work possible 💙

Congratulations @svgef - Highly Commended for People’s Choice in The Collectives Awards 2026 🙌

Team SVGEF were recognised by their peers across the network as valued collaborators, capacity builders, and role models.
They’ve shared the tough lessons they’ve learned about working in small island states — where capacity is thin, distances are long, and every donor conversation matters.

Thank you for your valued contribution Stephan and Lisa! ✨

Global Gathering 2026 🌍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Every May, the Conservation Collective global network comes together for our annual summit of knowledge-sharing, inspiration, and nature immersion.

This year in early May, 48 of us gathered at @ardtornish_ in the Scottish Highlands for four days that culminated in the annual Collectives Awards, celebrating outstanding work from our teams around the world, generously sponsored by our partners and friends at @brorafashion

Thank you to @williamgrantuk, @brorafashion, @walkersshortbread and @isleofmullsoapco and @ncnean for gifting our attendees, and a huge thank you to the whole Ardtornish team and Hugh Raven and family for their extraordinary hospitality.

And to our hosts the @highlands_islands_environment team Sally McNaught, Louis MacMillan, Kendra Walsh and Iona Marshall— whose vision and hard work made these memorable days together possible 🙏

What a place. What a team. We couldn’t be prouder to be part of this Collective with you 🌿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Happy first anniversary @antiguaenvironment!!!! Congratulations @marklsainsbury, @issapelt & team on all your wonderful work so far.

Here are some memories from your fact-finding conservation trip to your counterparts @svgef in St Vincent & the Grenadines, which I was lucky enough to tag along to back in January. It was truly inspiring to witness you at work, hear all your future plans and see the love in action.

A little love note to the earth.

For the inspiration it gives,
and the people I’ve had the chance to work with,
who are dedicated to preserving it.

That kind of work stays with you. Happy Earth Day.🌎🩵🌱
