I stopped doing the (automatic) top nine thing for a while, which picks posts based on likes, as though it was a fun, easy way to look back on the year, I got jaded by the whole Instagram thing where my most liked posts were not the ones that actually meant anything but were instead always just the prettiest pics of the Airstream in an “epic” landscape. Ironically, I don’t even own RV Calypso anymore, but an Airstream still made the cut 😆 (our fabulous, fun , and economical AirBnB crash pad for across-the-border runs this summer). More good things… getting hitched (!) (and not the Airstream to the Chevy), meetups with old Airstream-now-overlanding-the-world friends, pelican rescues, cold water snorkels, biopsies of extremely improbable but non-cancerous growths, and of course cocktails.

Yesterday, we participated in our first #cruisinglife holiday meal! Mark and I joined about 20 other #sailors on the hard under a catamaran for a potluck #thanksgiving feast.

Delicious meal and so fun.

The last 10+ days at Puerto Refugio, our final stop before starting passage up the North Sea of Cortez tomorrow and hauling out in Puerto Peñasco, has been full and a lovely way to end the season. It started with grand isolation, pelican rescues, and close-up marine mammal encounters and ended with the first-meeting of long-time insta-friends, new friends and those we’ve crossed paths with several times before. Last dusk the anchorage (all six boat who are still here) got together for a bonfire, some Mexican dancing lessons expertly taught by the kids from S/V Nike, scorpion hunting, and good conversation under a sky crowded with stars (and Starlinks). As we slowly dinghies home, a sea lion followed us, then two, as we kept track of them by the bioluminescence that glowed around them. Our final day here is full of cramming in a lot of work before two days under way, but with full hearts. After not even having stayed in so much as a marina since January, I think we’re ready fully for the air conditioning, real shower, and separate bedroom (with a real door!) in or short-term apartment that’s waiting for us where the Sonoran desert meets the sea.

The BESTEST #boi spent a few hours with us playing fetch with his "ball." He followed us around town (which like half mile total) and back to Trixie the dinghy. I think he wanted to move in with us!

He's very smart. He knew not to enter the restaurant zone (see video). He kept bringing his "ball" to the steps. He waiting patiently and asked politely for a toss. I absolutely fell for him!

Took some time from boat projects to tour nearby Hearst Castle. With the recent time change we took the last tour of the day as it coincided with golden hour.
