Conception Island ➡️ Fernandez Bay, Cat Island ➡️ Little San Salvador Cay ➡️ Southern Eleuthera
June 3–5, 2026 🇧🇸

After leaving Conception Island, we made a slight change of plans. Some very special boat buddies were waiting for us in southern Eleuthera, and after years of talking about meeting up somewhere in the Bahamas, it was finally going to happen.

That meant a couple of days and nights at anchor while working our way north. Honestly? That’s part of the adventure. More miles under the keel, more time sailing, more chances to practice and learn.

Our friends aboard S/V Spisea are Scott and Kylee—a husband-and-wife captain team. Scott is from France, and Kylee grew up in the same tiny Northern California town I did. We even graduated from the same high school… just a few decades apart. 🤯 What are the odds?

They’ve been living aboard full-time for years, and it’s funny how this cruising life connects people from completely different corners of the world. Sometimes all those years of saying, “We’ll meet up someday,” actually happen.

And this time… it did. ❤️⚓️

📍Saint Martin
Great food, fun happy hours, LOTS of chandleries, and even better company, always a solid stop🙌 Places feel extra special when you get to share them with awesome people🫶

Also… we got a new outboard and spent way too much at the chandlery. That’s how we knew it was time to go🤪

See you later, Saint Martin! Already looking forward to the next catch-up with our friends!

🏝️Carriacou

The epicenter of hurricane Beryl earlier this summer.

Pretty much every sailor transitioning from the Grenadines to Grenada stops at Carriacou and has been to @paradisebeachclubcarriacou and met Alison, Chad, Simon and all of the other wonderful members of the staff there.

The hurricane wiped the place out, but it was only temporary! There’s too much life here. Too much joy.

Rebuilding began almost immediately and has been an act of love and determination. Locals and sailors alike have all been part of the process.

Here’s our posse enjoying the second night of re-opening. Smiles all around!

… the cherry on top was that our boat sign that we painted in June 2023 was found and put back up with all of the other OG signs that were found.

Long live the boat signs!!👍

🎥 @svspisea - B O I L I N G L A K E •• one of the most unique places we’ve ever visited! Dominica is home to the 2nd largest boiling lake in the world. The water on the outer rim of the lake is around 180°F (90°C) and the water in the middle that’s really bubbling is too hot to get to for measuring! 🥵

This hike was no joke, at least for us! It was 7 miles (11 kilometers) round trip, with 3000ft (900m) of elevation gain. We climbed in tree roots, through a rocky gorge, through what felt like a million sticky mud puddles, and crossed over rivers that were boiling (!!).

We went on an overcast day, which ended up being perfect! Since you’re surrounded by hot water at times, not having the sun out all the time was great. It actually started raining (read: complete tropical downpour) on the way down, which made things a bit more interesting! We were extra careful when walking in all of the wet mud to avoid slipping. It felt a little like being a kid again? If that makes sense. We were in the rain and there was absolutely no where to go, so we just enjoyed it!

We brought about 3 liters of ice cold water and drank nearly all of it by the end..

..and our legs felt like complete mush for the following 3 days. Even the stairs on our boat were almost intolerable. And we only have FOUR steps. 😂🤪

📍Grenada Monday 9:45am July 1, 2024.

So far- thumbs up! 👍

We have prepped the boat - everything from lashing sails down, adding double and triple lines, closing seacocks, bringing in all things from outside and stowing them. Taking down the enclosure. Topping off fuel and water, disconnecting power and water from the shore, taking pictures for insurance, packing for each soul on the boat, (clothing, meds, toiletries, distractions, cat toys..) grabbing our valuables.

Getting as much additional cash as possible from the ATM.
Gathering boat docs, passports. All tech and cords, … the list is long.

Then we moved off the boat into an apartment hotel close to the university here in Grenada. We got here mid afternoon and it is a good thing as Grenada declared a state of emergency and issued a curfew for 6pm last night for the entire island excluding emergency responders, water and electric personnel.

The building is structurally sound and only 6 years old.

We have 3 other boats here with us. @svstellamari @svspisea and Huff N Puff. So as exhausted as we’re all were we had a mini- hurricane party last night and watched the storm updates come in… some of us made it later into the night than others … (yeah - so not Lilly and I)

We had to prep for being here and potentially not having power or water. We stocked lots of beverages, sandwich items and prepared foods like pasta salads to have ready in the fridge.

We have also become ice and water hoarders in anticipation of the shut downs. We all filled every vessel we could find in the apartments and or improvise including the washing machine, with water.

We all look a bit more frazzled than usual, but we are all here, together and safe.

Now we wait. ⏰

This is one for SXM! 🇸🇽🇫🇷 Our 6 weeks in St. Martin were FILLED with memorable times with so many memorable people. We sailed up from Antigua with our good friends @theoceanbandits , we were reunited with different friends we last saw in Guatemala and in the Virgin Islands last year, finally landed in the same anchorage as other friends, and met so many incredible humans in between! We also were lucky enough to be a part of a HUGE day (see pic 8) and had the chance for Meagan’s family to come visit for the first time. We celebrated birthdays, holidays, sporting events, Carnival, enjoyed beautiful views, and had such an amazing time. We love this island and all these people! 🥳❤️
