I’m thankful to have the crew of friends I do, work the job I do, and live in the state I do. As my days chasing tides dwindle, I’m grateful for the wisdom shared with me, whether it was fishing, work, or just family life I have people I can reach out to and communicate with. This again, was another season of learning for me, and pushing myself beyond what I had grown comfortable with, but it was made easier by people willing to lend a hand and help with any questions I had. It was a year of ups and downs, and I have no idea what the future holds for us all, but we’ll just keep on keepin’ on. God Bless you all, see you in April. 🫡🙏

**Attention Maine Striped Bass Stakeholders**
Tuesday from 6-8 pm the Maine Department of Marine Resources will be holding a meeting to discuss concerns and ideas relating to the management of Striped Bass in the State of Maine. The meeting will be held at the Curtis Memorial Library in Brunswick, ME or you can attend online via Microsoft Teams. A chance to make your voice heard. If you can’t attend you can email your comments to the @mainedmr DMRPolicy@maine.gov.

It would be nice to see a strong turnout for this meeting. Just posting your opinion on Instagram does very little. Being a part of the process is rewarding and can make a real difference.

Earlier today @swamoffstrong posted a photo of signs that are being put up around the area which is awesome. These signs are to educate or encourage proper fish handling techniques. I also shared some photos of @biteback_fishing and @ties.by.ty who have been having a productive spring with my plugs but also portray proper fish handling in their photos. They either keep the fish in the water or quickly bring it out for a quick photo. It’s never too late to break bad habits especially since we keep making up reasons on why the spring run has been so bad, there’s only one reason.

A recap of 2023 of some of the catches on my plugs. Seeing enjoyment on peoples faces is why I do this. I want to say wopila and give thanks to all the support of you anglers out there kind enough to send me pictures of some of your catches Means a lot to me. Also want to give a huge shout out to my mentor Mike Fixter @pikiemike for everything he has taught me over the years about building and fishing. I would not be where I am at this point without that guy.

During a season where any newbie can go pick up a rod and catch a trophy striped bass, we’ve seen a spike of surfcasters desperate for attention. It’s easier than ever to catch a cow and it most definitely devalues what it means to target big fish. Handouts seem to be the new trend and this clashes heavily with traditional surfcasting principles. We’ve reached the “participation trophy” era, and there’s no going back. But here’s an idea, limit your fishing buddies, stop giving detailed information to the ones who ask for it, and more importantly, figure it out on your own. It’s a completely different sense of accomplishment when you can catch big fish on your own without using the Internet or piggybacking your peers. ❗️FISHING REPORT FOR THE WEEK❗️ This moon, as expected, has had fish fired up! The great bite that opened up with the start of the moon continued with the storm. Larger fish have been being taken on various plugs from HEAVY (3oz) needles, mag darters, bottle plugs, and diving metal lips, my go to was the @mefishing_co goblin, after tuning the plug by adjusting the line tie it was able to hold in the larger water, and was just getting crushed. Classic summer conditions were the program, ledges on the incoming tide and river mouths on the drop! Continuing to fish hard through the rest of the week, I’ll be sure to bring you guys a report for the weekend as the moon comes to an end.

We have plenty of eels, mackerel, and clams in stock heading into the weekend as well. Remember, if you need me here later than 3, just reach out and let me know. I’m happy to stay as long as you need.
