Bangalore, come meet your homegrown favourite band members, Swarathma, not for a music gig BUT for a lecture where they reveal their secrets to song making. And not just for tips but also to compose one together. Who knows you could make a debut with them later? 😋 On Saturday, 10 Oct, 5 pm 📍 The Bangalore Local, Koramangala 🎟️ Ticket link in bio

Rivers return in songs in very different ways — as home, memory, faith, separation, ecology and belonging.

In Part II of **Songs of Rivers**, we bring together songs around the Teesta, Indrayani, Cauvery, Ravi, Mahanadi, Gadadhar, Chenab and Sutlej.

Some of these came to us through the recommendations you left in the comments on Part I , thank you for adding to the list, and for pointing us towards songs we may otherwise have missed.

What other river songs should we listen to?

[TICKETS IN BIO] Ever wondered where a song really begins? Is it a hummed melody, a guitar riff, a feeling or just a random idea that refuses to leave your head?

Vasu Dixit and Jishnu Dasgupta, members of acclaimed folk-rock band Swarathma take you on a journey that traces the origins of their songs. In doing so, they will seek to answer the question, "Where do songs really come from?"

While every songwriter or composer has their own process, Swarathma has their own ways of making the songs that since become part of their three studio albums and numerous singles released over the years since 2009. While some songs begin as a hummed melody while on a bike ride, others begin with a guitar riff played at random. How does a kernel of an idea develop into a melody, a groove, a theme, a verse, a chorus and finally, something that connects with music lovers?

Not only will Vasu and Jishnu take you through the band's and their individual approaches to songwriting, they will even attempt a live mini songwriting workshop with the audience, much like a band jamming together.

Who knows what the audience might inspire and create, even as they learn about Swarathma's songwriting journey?

Saturday, 10 October
🕓 5 PM – 7 PM
📍 The Bangalore Local, Koramangala

See you, and hopefully, hear you sing!
