Sail on, Buddy. You have embarked on the journey to distant shores where Linda and those who have passed before you await.

"Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven."

"Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven."

"He will wipe every tear from your eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away... He is making everything new!"

"Truly I tell you, today you will be with Him in paradise."

"...God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them... He will wipe every tear from your eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

"Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God… Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory!"

Meanwhile, we the living, your family and friends, mourn your loss. Your smile, ready laugh, your caring nature, the lilt of your voice, your encouragement and kind words, your knowledge that empowered us to venture forth into new territories, your example--hard work, love of animals, your wonder at the world, your passion for life, family and willingness to help others; your belief in the goodness of man, and confidence in us--whether we deserved it or not--and your irreverence, which you boldly displayed whenever nature called.

We will drink the finest tequila in your honor, smile at the secret cucumber, horse hair, snozzer, $2 bill for the journey on your greatest adventure, donned with sunglasses to shield your eyes as you blend into the brightest of lights, and finally our river of tears at losing you from this world will pronounce your value to the next. We'll miss you, Buddy, more than these or any words can describe.

Sail on old friend, father, grandfather, great grandfather, father-in-law, husband, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, son. Watch over us and gently guide us as you always have. We will love and miss you until we are reunited and can embrace you again for eternity. Thank you for your example of living life to the fullest and always taking the high road. Godspeed dear friend.

Ben Longley aka @turbo.board switch back lipslide as seen in Issue EIGHT and in @teamelevin “Elevin.”

Ben did a few tricks to warm up, then settled on switch back 50, which Austin and I decided wasn’t going to be good enough. I told him “nobody cares about another 50, do a switch back lip.” After a few minutes of indecision he tried it, ate shit a few times, then got it within 20 minutes.

Swipe to watch the session and see the photo.

Grab your copy on the Torment website before they’re all gone.

Here’s a little backstory: I hit this spot for the first time when I was 19-20 year old (2012?), during a short stint in CO, but didn’t land a trick. I dreamed of this spot for the following years, and got to see a lot of really cool stuff filmed there, especially by the Nightmare crew.
After taking a hiatus from boarding for 3 years, I found myself living in Colorado Springs, and this ledge kept calling my name. As I got back into boarding again, I found myself driving the long way to Summit County, checking the snow depth and patiently waiting for the time to revisit.
Eventually some friends were passing through, and I dragged them out to this ledge through about a mile of deep snow (post holeing the whole way) I was about 26 at the time. The ledge was fully covered in snow and we tried but didn’t get much.
Fast forward to April of 2024, and now I’m 34, and I know I’m moving to Minnesota after the winter, my time in CO was done.
I had just spent most of the season riding and filming with the @group_3ffort crew, and I had a bucket list spot I needed to check off. We hiked to this ledge and it was completely buried in snow…again. Mac, Mitch, Sully and I dug it out, and hit it for a few hours but ultimately ran out of light or camera battery (probably both) Fuck.
Luckily the boys were down to go again a few weekends later and we didn’t have to unbury the spot, it was still good to go. (Side note, this reservoir ledge is above 10,000 ft elevation so it’s extremely exhausting to hike for hours)
Loooong story short, I’ve thrown a fuckload of tricks at this ledge, come close to a lot of cool and crazy shit. Really grateful and ecstatic I finally walked away with a trick I’m truly stoked on. (Mac’s filming is unreal, his camera movements make me literally feel an indescribable emotion) anyways don’t fucking give up, chase that high, stim the fuck out with your boarder friends….yeah do it for the love.
Now if only I could go back and land that back 180 and cab 270 I’ve been trying all these years…🫠🪐💫
