POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

this studio that has changed and formed and shaped and guided every part of my life from age 22 on turned 9 years old today. we opened 9 years ago. I didn’t even realize the date today until it popped up on my Facebook memories. I taught yoga this morning in that first studio to 50 people, I used a silly rock playlist Brooks helped me make last night. and then we spent the day in our gardens and planned our weekend next week around west hartfords grand opening. I don’t know what I envisioned my life turning out to be 9 years ago, but I can confidently say this wasn’t it. this life, these studios, my friends, our communities, my family… I could have never dreamed this up.

when I opened I put a sign humble and kind up because i didn’t know what I was building but I knew that mattered to me a whole lot. turns out, those two things can take you pretty freaking far (add in blood, sweat, tears, so on and so forth). happy 9 @sweatfluencehotyoga , thank you for it all.

when i first started this process, i had dreams of opening a sweatfluence studio in every state. i wanted to build something big. really really freaking big.

but somewhere along the way, my dreams started to change.
we live in a world that constantly tells us we need more. more success, more money, more growth, more more more. when is it ever actually just… enough?

I’ve slowly started to learn that everything i was dreaming of was actually everything i already had, and maybe it’s time to start enjoying it.

we bought our dream home. it’s perfectly imperfect and we’re turning it into a little paradise for our family, with gardens & all the animals i always wanted. brooks is growing up surrounded by nature and i don’t want to miss it.

in less than two weeks, we’ll open our third studio with a franchisee i would quite literally trust with my own children. what more could i ask for in a studio partner?

i’m so proud of what we’ve built, but i don’t want to dream so big about the future that i forget to live in the present. i don’t want to look back in 20 years wishing brooks had a sibling or two, but i was too busy growing a business to make it happen.

i think sometimes the most courageous thing we can do is recognize when it’s time to pause. not quit or give up. just stop forcing things and trust that the universe is leading where I am supposed to go. right now, it’s leading me out of the office. out of the meetings. out of the grind. back onto my mat, back into nature, back into peace.

is this the end of sweatfluence franchising? heck no. when the right partner finds their way to me, there could be more studios. maybe lots more! but it’s the end of me searching for them & the end of letting a business rooted in peace take away so much of my own.

for now, i’m focusing on making our (soon to be!!!) three studios the best they can be, growing my family, and enjoying this beautiful little life we’ve built.

maybe we’ll open 20 more studios. maybe we’ll stay at 3 forever and for the first time, i’m at peace with either. at some point, the dream isn’t to have more. it’s to realize you already have enough, and then to give yourself permission to enjoy it
