After reading Saturday at the Food Pantry, written by Diane O’Neill and illustrated by Brízida Magro, this crew packed snack bags for Meals on Main Street after decorating them with lots of love! And while there aren’t sugar cookies in the bags, there are yummy treats. 🧡🖤 @mealsonmainstreet

Together We Grow by Helen Docherty, illustrated by Brizida Magro, is such a beautiful way of showing children that change is happening all around us, and to us too.

The weather changes, an acorn becomes a tree, a kitten grows into a cat, and children are growing and changing too. They might change what they wear or play, change their mind, or feel grumpy one day and completely different the next.

What I really appreciated is that it doesn’t pretend every change feels good. Some changes are exciting, some happen slowly, and others can feel really hard, especially when they happen whether we want them to or not. There are things we can’t change, but there are also things we can change together.

I think that makes this such a reassuring book for little ones who might be finding change difficult. It reminds them that change is a natural part of life, and that as the world around them changes, they’re growing and changing too.

And after a whole book about change, it ends with the sweetest reminder that one thing won’t; “I will always love you!” 🥹

Brizida Magro’s illustrations are gorgeous too, and I really appreciated seeing so many different children and families throughout the pages. 💛
